I'm so glad that your five minute internet search has upended the entire scientific method.

That was just a quick search. I actually think I read that article as a handout in my Creative and Critical Thinking class. It looks so familiar!

You can not scientifically prove a negative. That's what we are talking about here.

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

Besides, what you think of as a solid cup, isn't.

@TBR

""Can you prove a negative? Yes, yes you can."

No, no you can't."

Go to the cupboard.

Get a cup.

I can prove that there is no water in it.

I just proved a negative.

"You cannot prove a negative" is, in itself, a negative.

No, no you can't.

So? I've taken college level classes on Spells and Potions at Hogwarts! Same thing. Different school.

"The Bible is an important book, one full of history and stories,..."
One of my favorite Bible stories is where two daughters get their father drunk and fuck the hell out of him. Read that to your grade school kids. . .Good times.

“And those people who studied . . . they went in as believers and just solidified their opinions. They did not go in objectively.”

Lol

I suppose RW Emerson went into his Divinity studies with that same objectivity?

Many people study Theology that are not in religious occupations.

@EA, you’re doing nothing more than yelling over the “born again” evangelical nut job.

And he’s trying to yell over you.

Because they’re your beliefs. Others do not have to choose to believe them also.

You can argue all you want until you’re blue in the face telling people you’re correct. They do not have to accept your beliefs. As TBR states. Just because it hasn’t been proven yet does not mean it’s not present to one day prove.

You can share e your belief all you want. Just keep it to yourself.

"Lol
You’re trying to get people to believe what you choose to believe.

You might as well be standing on a street corner yelling at the top of your lungs."

I choose to accept what is known, not what is unknown. I choose to accept reality, not some fiction.

And those people who studied . . . they went in as believers and just solidified their opinions. They did not go in objectively.

@TBR

Can you prove a negative? Yes, yes you can. It is faith, it is a belief that something exists that clouds that you can not prove a negative.

Now if you want to get deeper, sure, we can go there. Is there another dimension? Are we just some RNG in a software application, ala the matrix? All of those things could possibly exist. As time marches on, by the same method of proving a negative, those possibilities are diminishing in the probability of being possible.

"Your views on religion are just as polarizing as those that are,”Born Again” freaks."

Nope, not at all. My views on religion are very simple. I have studied them. I have read a lot of the texts. I have even taken college-level classes on world religions. At the end of the day, if they proclaim that there is a supreme being, it is pure and utter bullshit. If you read the bible objectively, it is a book about power and suppression. I believe in reality. I believe in things that can be proven. I believe I know what I know and I know that there is a lot that I do not know. For the things that I do not know, I am not going to base my life on some belief that a supreme being created it. I am going to base my life on that I just don't know. I have scepticism.

"As I would say to them. You can have any belief you want. Because you CHOOSE to believe what you want to. Does not make you correct. Don’t push what you CHOOSE to believe on me."

And now, we agree. If people want to be stupid, be stupid. Don't push your stupidity on me as that it is the only way. But if you don't think that I will not judge you, you are wrong. I will judge you. Just like you would be judging me. This is why I have serious issues with people in power having these beliefs from a book of fiction.

Interesting response from you :)

"“Religions have done more to destroy humans progress than anything else.”
Humans have done more to destroy humans progress than anything else."

There is a lens to look through here: time. Do we want to go back before religion? Yes, you are correct. Man kills man. If you want to come into religious times, then we are now looking at a subset of man who manipulated the rest. That, as Mickey would say, "Is a fact." Take a walk down history lane.

Do you want to argue Caveat Emptor? That the 'buyer' of the religion should know better? So if you want to argue that the tool used to do this is religion, fine. If you want to argue it is sill man vs. man, fine.

IMO, people are missing a huge thing in this discussion. I have a theory, and it is JUST a theory, that there are 'forces' that are more powerful than anything physical. The most powerful thing in the human world is love. That chemical reaction in a human drives a human to do things that they normally would not. The second most powerful thing in the human world, again, IMO, is stress. It is not as powerful as love, but it is up there. These chemical reactions in our bodies make us use 'tools' to do things.

Now as we walk down history lane, let's look at different regions of the world. Was the religion of the Mayans the WRONG religion because it didn't follow the beared white guy? Were the Buddhists wrong because they didn't believe in a god? Do you want to get into Hinduism? You know, it is only about twice as old as the bearded white guys story.

Now, did the Hindu's, which again are twice as old as the bearded white guy, have wars to kill people? No. So that is a plus in your eyes because religion didn't kill. What about buddhists? Again, you win, because buddhists abhor violence and even forbids it in it's text.

Now :) Let's talk about the bearded white guy and love and manipulation. Do we want to talk about the crusades? I forgot what Pope it was that started the first crusade. Notice, I didn't say political leader, it was the POPE, you know, the voice of the CATHOLICS who declared war, around 1100 IIRC. Now, when did those crusades end? Now we are getting into an interesting discussion. Wasn't that just an extension of the crusades? Didn't that end in the mid 1800s? So now we have at least 700 years of wars fought, all in the name, of religion.

"Are some doing their damage in the name of religion? Sure. But not the majority."

Want to stay in the US or go worldwide with that one? In the US, how much power does Lindsey Graham have? Doesn't he have a majority level power? His actions impact the majority, even those that don't follow him.

I have not been blessed with the gift of faith.

While Catholics (I was Catholic for a time) are certainly eclectic in their observance of the faith, the hierarchy of the church has been unified and steadfast in their opposition to abortion in a way that evangelical churches cannot be.

We all have fictions that be sincerely believe. I've made peace with mine, and I don't have a problem with anyone else's fictions, as long as they don't try to make me believe theirs.

Mark remember I said to follow David Straight? This man gives seminars on becoming a American Nationalist. When we become American Nationalist we do not answer to this Government, That is fact, Funny they did not teach us this in School. Its a long process to get to that point, but if we bust our ass and do what needs to be done, it does not take that long. Watch his videos, he has no driver license or registration on his vehicles. does not pay Fed Taxes and on and on, But he knows the legal ways to do this and teaches them.
