Yep. like matter appearing from NOTHING
Contempt.
LOL
People, even science majors, believe in all kinds of weird shit.
The more you actually know, the more you should realize how little you know.
There are also 10s of millions of science majors who believe in God...……..but the Arts major knows better. lmao
"That does not mean that we make up some explanation without evidence "it appeared out of nothing" or "God did it."
There are plenty of people who will tell you they had direct evidence of God. Probably more than have experience with something being created from nothing.
That is an incorrect assumption.
There are a lot of things that we can't explain.
That does not mean that we make up some explanation without evidence "it appeared out of nothing" or "God did it."
Sometimes you have to be comfortable with uncertainty...
A smart science major graduate should know this...
To believe the Big Bang Theory, you have to believe that particles of matter and anti-matter formed from NOTHING,...….yes Nothing.
Personally, I don't find this any more, or any less, believable than pixie dust.
Knowledge is always imperfect.
The solution to that is not to say, "If I don't know, it must be this..."
Wow, you obviously have no idea what you are doing.
Wasn't it magic pixie dust or something similar that got us here?
Of course , no answer.
LOL
"So if you want to believe that there is a magical being that created us in his image, more power to you. I think you are wrong. "
Well then tell us how we got here and how sure you are of your 'belief'
DISMISSING Faith:
This is the latest and greatest Thing to Do If you are A Cool DEM.
Why would they want to be accountable to ANYONE
DISRESPECTFULLY, LEE
If you are applying the scientific method, there is on proof.
You contribute evidence to the alternative hypothesis, but you can never rule out confounding variables.
Contempt is such a hard word.
Do I care if people believe in the easter bunny? Nope.
Do I care if people believe in sky daddy? Nope.
I only care when they tell me that the sky daddy or easter bunny has guided them in life and that everyone must adhere to the doctrines of those. I care when they take those doctrines and kill others over it.
So if you want to believe that there is a magical being that created us in his image, more power to you. I think you are wrong. I think you are easily manipulated. But I do not hold you in contempt.
And for the person who is sooooo close to 'blocking' me. This is where subjectivity kicks in. This is a subjective scenario that I will point out.
It is not the belief that is subjective, because, as we sit today, it can be proven to be false. It is the action of those that believe which is subjective. How I treat people and how AZ treats people and how you treat people are all subjective and there is no 'one and only one' correct way.
Wow, what a topic.

What caused the big bang?
A Hot Date posting on SLS of course...
Intelligence: The more you know the more you realize how little you know.
What caused the big bang? lol
I've never encountered anyone so wrong about so much, yet completely confident in his misunderstanding.
Everyone believes something that isn't true.
You believe you are the smartest guy around here...
What a pathetic miserable wretch.
What a positive outlook on life you have...
Anyone who disagrees with you is worthy of your contempt.
In the open forums "I think that anyone who contemptuously dismisses faith and religion as anything less than teaching 'science' are completely full of shit, and qualify for their "Asshole" pin as well, just to put it bluntly."
I need to defend myself....
Contempt is WAY too soft of a word for how I feel about adults that believe in magic, fairy tales and invisible friends.
Of course, the religious should not feel alone. I hold equal "beyond contempt" feelings toward anti-vaxers, flat-earthers, people that believe commercial airlines are releasing mind-controlling chemical trails, UFO enthusiasts, Big Foot hunters, anyone that thinks Republican stated economic agenda or the Democratic Party Establishment's hidden agenda is intended to help the middle class, anyone that thinks money is created by work instead of being borrowed into existence, and pretty much ANYONE that believes anything without being able to back it up with data and cogent argument...
So, yeah, like 90% of the population is beyond deplorable in my estimation.
"contemptuously dismisses faith"? That is like saying Everest is a pretty big hill.
