I do not doubt that there was a sodom and gomorrah. I doubt the bible's story of how and why it ended. Nothing of the events in the book of genesis have ever been found.

I think the bible, as it is TODAY, is a series of fables that have been 'sensationalized' and 'manipulated' based upon things that occurred. In other words, the director took a lot of liberty with the real facts so that he could make a movie that people would want to see.

As you stated, man was not as evolved intellectually then as he is now. So while he thought the sun circled the earth, there were lots of events that they had no idea how to explain.

This evolution is why I think religion is dying. It's a VERY slow death, but the youth aren't buying the bullshit. It may take 5 generations more for it drop a lot, but it's like the birth rate. We are not producing even our replacement rate. So for every two believers we are only birthing less than one. Those two will die. It's only a matter of time until religion dies.

You have to put the bible in historical perspective. People weren't as educated, man was not as evolved. They still thought the sun went around the earth. It doesn't mean the premise isn't true.

They keep finding artifacts that support the bible. I'm unaware of any that disprove it.

There has been no evolution of learning regarding religion. It is supposed to be factual, metaphor, story, whatever. With knowledge, it has evolved and we have learned more.

In your scenario, there is complete blind faith that it is true. In my scenario, aka, the real world, there is historical evidence supporting my premise.

Actually, if you want to say it is a belief that it will be figured out, so be it. However, there is a significant difference and one that you are missing. Throughout the time that man has been around, man has figured things out. Man did not figure everything out the day man existed. It is this evolution of knowledge. We weren't supposed to be able to fly, yet we do. We weren't supposed to be able to leave the planet, but yet, we do. So it is MY BELIEF that humans will figure things out in the future that they haven't today. It is based on history.
