Tropical Lifestyle Takeover

Also called: TLT

A multi-day lifestyle takeover hosted by SOP Lifestyle Productions, typically held in Costa Rica or other Latin American destinations in winter. TLT events combine resort takeover, themed nightly programming, and a Costa Rican setting for an alternative to the Mexican and Caribbean takeover circuit.

The Tropical Lifestyle Takeover is the flagship event run by SOP Lifestyle Productions, a small operator whose name (Swinger / Open / Poly) signals an explicitly inclusive scope across the broader consensual non-monogamy spectrum rather than a strictly couples-and-swing focus. The takeover runs each February in Playa Potrero, a smaller beach town in Costa Rica's Guanacaste province, with multiple advance dates published through the late 2020s.

The defining structural choice is intentionally small scale. The published capacity is roughly 20 people total, hosted at the Mango y Mono villa property — three clothing-optional pools, beach access, and designated playroom space — rather than at a full resort. The all-inclusive package covers accommodations, three daily meals, beverages, airport transfers, a per-person massage, a catamaran excursion, a Tamarindo day trip, gratuities, and on-site WiFi. Pre-event Zoom or Teams meet-and-greets and a private attendee group are used to set expectations and let the group know each other before arrival.

The format positions TLT as a deliberate alternative to the larger Mexico- and Caribbean-based resort takeovers that dominate the lifestyle travel calendar. Where a Cancun or Negril takeover delivers hundreds of attendees, multi-stage programming, and headline DJs, TLT trades that scale for a small-group experience, daily activities and workshops, nightly themed socials, and a Pacific-coast Costa Rican setting. Costa Rican beaches are not clothing-optional, so nudity is confined to the villa pools and grounds.
