Trapeze Club
Also called: Trapeze NYC, Trapeze DC
A US on-premise lifestyle club brand with locations in New York, Washington DC, and previously other major cities. Trapeze is among the best-known on-premise venues in the Northeast and runs a busy weekly calendar including singles-friendly nights, BBC-themed nights, and theme parties. Couples-and-single-females admission is the typical pattern; single-male nights are scheduled separately.
The Trapeze name appears across multiple US lifestyle venues that are not formally affiliated with one another despite the shared brand. The best-documented current location is in Atlanta, where Atlanta Magazine's first-person reporting describes Trapeze as a long-running on-premise club catering primarily to couples and single women, with single-male admission heavily restricted on Saturdays and tiered at significantly higher door fees on the nights men are admitted. The club is built around a large social area with a dance floor, multiple bars, and a separate access-controlled inner space, with most of the venue dedicated to play rooms and themed party nights running across the weekend.
The original New York City venue, Le Trapèze, was a separate operation that opened at 17 East 27th Street in Manhattan in 1980 and ran for decades as one of the city's longest-standing on-premise clubs. The Real Deal reported in June 2016 that the club lost its lease and was unable to renew at its long-time address; subsequent attempts to relocate were limited and the brand no longer maintains a New York presence. Plans, branding, and ownership across the various Trapeze-named venues have not been continuous, so a couple visiting one location should not assume policies, dress code, or admission rules from another carry over.
House rules at venues using the name converge on a familiar lifestyle template — couples and single females admitted by default, single males on a restricted basis, no photography of any kind, BYOB structure where local law allows. Theme nights and BBC-focused nights appear regularly on the calendars of locations still operating.
