The Chat rooms have been down all week. Any plans to fix it?
Chat Rooms
sls_WayneC were you or the techs aware of this situation? If not this gives y'all a few months to prepare if you are going to go with a different chat program. I'm sure you would have plenty of volunteers from the chat rooms to test any new chat program out. ~ N
I know not everyone uses them, but some do, and it is a part of this site and what we paid for.
For those that do not know you can not use the chat rooms unless you have an operating version of Adobe Flash.
Adobe Will No Longer Support Flash after 2020
Adobe has announced the termination of Flash by the end of 2020. Browser vendors have published timelines outlining the steps to phase out the technology in their respective browsers.
Adobe has finally decided to put an end to Flash, suggesting content developers to use instead HTML5 instead:
"Adobe is planning to end-of-life Flash. Specifically, we will stop updating and distributing the Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourage content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to these new open formats [HTML5, WebGL, etc. – Editor]."
They will continue to issue "regular security patches, maintaining OS and browser compatibility and adding features and capabilities as needed" on Windows, Mac OS and Linux until the end of 2020. <<
My question is will SLS look for a replacement for the current chat room, or will the chat rooms be dust in the wind?
For those worried about any updates or changes to the chat, they are running on a sub domain so any changes shouldn't effect the operations of the main site.
Just curious as this has been a topic of discussion in the various chat rooms.
(sorry for the C&P but I couldn't post the URL to that article)
Thanks
