Only We Age

Brooklyn, NY, Us

We have current pictures to show people, if there is a mutual interest. We’ve never been comfortable having our “face pictures” public.

Or how about this Current Photos of ALL besides a body part on your profile.. we have photos from every single year and as recently as 1 month ago.. you decide.. and adding new ones this week from our FL Anna Maria Island Trip.. yes that what we go by to !

If SLS got hacked, the birthdays would be yet another piece of personal identifiable info they'd leak, so perhaps that was a consideration. That, and code would be needed to auto-update the profiles.

Again I will promote the idea of adding "Updated --/--/---- to your tagline when updating.

If enough of us start doing it the trend will become self enforcing. Waiting for SLS IT to get around to fixing this might be a long wait.

As I was writing my last post, I realized my wife's age needed to be updated. It is kind of a pain that the site doesn't just do it automatically. I know that one of SLS's main competitors does. People can still lie about their birthday, but they cannot just change it once it has been entered. The site can certainly ignore requests to change a birthday because it's obvious what the purpose of that request is, which is to lie.

For those that do update their ages, it doesn't hurt to mention that in the Additional Comments section of the profile. Some may honestly not realize that the site doesn't automatically do that, but after being here a few years, that excuse no longer works.

Again, 55+ seems to be the big cutoff for upper age limits. I even see this for people at or withiin a couple years of 55, but they'll play with someone less than half their age. Yet more people on that Egyptian river, but I suppose it never hurts to try.

Thru the years we have been here, our ages seem to run behind a year or two. Right now mine is 2 years behind and the wife is one year....Who knows what goes on with that! We assume most peoples ages are in the ball park.

We update our ages. I have noticed that you will drop off some people's radar at either 55+ or 60+, especially in the Hot Date listings. I've seen older people that will perpetually be no older than 55 here on SLS for this reason.

You can look at it as being penalized to update your ages, but at some point, this will catch up with people depending on how well they age. For example, if you're really a couple of years older than 55 and age averagely, no big deal if you post your age as 55. However, if you are really 70 and claiming to be 55, unless you aged very well, all you've gained is wasting your time and the time of the people you were meeting, or trying to meet.

To varying degrees, we're all on that river in Egypt when it comes to aging ;-)

We joined this site about 5 1/2 years ago. Because the site for some reason does not update peoples ages automatically, each year we update our ages. Seems like most people don’t, and since we’ve joined, we see that we have gone from being younger than the couples around us, to older than them, not to mention the people whose profiles state that they joined 20 years ago, but they’re still 35 years old. Does everyone just assume that peoples’ “true ages“ are their stated age plus the number of years since they joined? If so, are we being “penalized” (or is it “penile-ized) 5 1/2 years lol?
