I am hoping for a civil discussion and as ATL would say, some enlightenment with this topic :)
Last I checked everyone here is an American. I have no problem telling people that on the political quadrant test I always land on or near Ralph Nader. I have friends that are Ron Paul disciples. I have friends that no matter who has a R next to their name, that person is the messiah. I have friends who love Jill Stein.
NONE of these people are my enemy. We disagree but I don't want to eradicate those that love Ron Paul. I don't want to ship out those that believe the R means messiah. Yet here in these forums and a lot in society, fellow american's want to treat those who are like me as enemies.
Now I know someone will come out and say, "Liberals do this as well." Yes, you are technically correct. There are some liberals who want to see a set of people removed. However, and this is not a cognitive disconnect, it does not approach the level that I see on the purported conservative side. Rush Limbaugh, Laura Ingraham (I almost bought her old house), Ann Coulter, Hannity, Carlson, O'Reilly, Fox News. Now who on the liberal side is like that? Want to say Maher? Meh. He may have said a thing or two but it is not a daily barrage of these are my enemy and he has often called for the Reagan - Tip O'Neil days to come back. It ain't Maddow, it ain't anyone on CNN. Perhaps Cenk Uygur, but I can't think of anyone else.
So why is it because I have a different belief set am I an enemy? The irony is that my belief set is more apt to help than harm, whereas those that want to banish me are more apt to harm than help.
