Super majorities just happen. Either by appointment or election. NY’s super majority government was election. The SCOTUS by appointment. One of those appointments never ever should have happened the way it did. A second of those appointments was rushed through in record time. Just remember those. Things usually come back to bite you in the ass.

Tom one of us is a retired LEO, Criminal Justice Teacher all over USA.. 30 plus years of being certified quarterly and yearly / (shooting) ... part of DOJ studies on related major crimes and published articles.. also cases on AMW ..carry permits in several States and "not currently certified under HR218" for LEOS as we have not had recent time. to schedule re qualify for yearly in home state... even that person cannot carry in many states including NYC a real joke!

Here is the heart of the matter. New York State was a "may issue" state meaning they could deny you a permit for any reason including "just because". NY city was even tougher and unless you were connected, would make you jump through a huge number of hoops and expenses, then just say no. Note, famous New Yorkers Robert DeNero and whoopie Goldburg have permits.

@one, no worries. I thought NYS allowed concealed carry fairly easily. Obviously test and qualify. Always was under impression NYC was crazy tough to get a carry permit. I never lived there so didn't really care so much. My best friend who lives in NJ said NJ is opening up concealed carry now so he's taking the course soon as he can.
