Yeah, but Trump has a big personality and actually believes his own BS.

DeSantis just give the impression that he knows he's faking it. No poker face. Fake smile.

Aside from DeSantis's likeability problem, why vote for the 2% version when you can vote for Trump? But also his campaign strategy, which was praised as innovative (have a huge wad of cash in a PAC that you can't actually consult with or control) turns out, not at all surprisingly, to have been stupid.

And then there's the matter of his bullying, which looks craven when he's punching down and pissant when he takes on Disney.

Two major reason for Desantis’ campaign. IMHO.

First off, when your biggest attribute is being the alternative to Trump, but your polices are extremely similar. Why do the faithful need an alternative. And if you’re the alternative with the same polices. You better have more charisma than the person you’re trying to be the alternative to.

Secondly, DeSantis is MAGA. That is extremely popular with the base. Outside the base, it is extremely unpopular. Why would a Republican who is anti MAGA embrace a MAGA candidate and allow them to gain some steam.

MAGA candidates prove they have an extremely hard time winning anything above local elections unless they’re in a deep Red state. I will for the purpose of this post include House Of Representatives as a local election.

Independent voters have turned against DeSantis. His poll numbers in his home state reflect this. He’s lost over 14 percentage points since last summer. What makes you think Independents nationwide would feel any different?

Unlike Donald Trump.

Nothing fazes him- always calm, cool and collected with his well thought out and most appropriate statements.

Regardless of any policy he's just not good enough at the political schmoozing part of the job and gets visibly uncomfortable when someone puts him on the spot. He gets rattled too easy.

He says all the right things. Still don't trust him though

Also liked how Vivek handled the Washington Post reporter.

Now Vivek Ramaswamy that dude doesn’t care about anyone One of my Indian friends explained it this way to me. They have been told and beat in their heads that Republicans hate the Brown guys and will do bad to them .
As he explained it puzzles him because most of these guys are educated or own their own businesses. BUT , he says these people see Vivek and relate to him so ….A Trump Vivek ticket is a good draw . I loved it when the CNBC reporter tried to talk discrimination of people of color to him wow he had her apologizing . The guy is good.

I think those lifts in his cowboy boots are making his back hurt.

Seriously, he's got a likeability problem. He's very awkward in public.

I like DeSantos but he is like Trump light . I know he could do the job .

One as I have many colleagues who work on his detail and with him in Florida.. YES he can do the job and does so. But what they told me just last year is that he has a hard time communicating with normal people.. this is where Trump excels.

Maybe he is just unlikeable? Being a popular reelected incumbent in Florida does not equate to national popularity.

That is about as nicely as I can say it.

With Donald obviously having a substantial lead over the others I am wondering what it is about Desantis that he is not getting more interest in the poles. He appears to have some good ideas about our current state of our country and solving the problems of illegal aliens and education for just a couple of topics. He did a very good job in Florida as the Govenor. Even Hally said so at the end of last nights debate. I am asking this and hoping for some positive feedback not some liberals bashing him because he is a Republican.
