@JandE

Your continued statement shows that you have not read anything about Flint.

Birmingham can not do wtf it wants. It is not a separate territory away from Alabama. If Ivey and her state government mandate something, the city has to adhere to it.

Here is what is happening in regard to that concept here, locally. CA state government has mandated a lot of new housing. They have mandated that housing numbers hit a certain number by a period of time. Where I live, we have been trying to get an exemption. We suffer from something that other places do not have. We have no more undeveloped or unused land OTHER than two private golf courses and a public one. There are also a few farms as well. Even if those are razed and built with high-density housing, it still will not meet the mandate.

So go ahead, keep bantering and bitching. The case was brought it up, it was a mandate from the state and the state drove the bus. Thirty four people charged, including the REPUBLICAN governor, who mandated it . . .

But again, I guess Tuskegee never happened as well.

Richards, TX

Remember they got a trillion dollar infrastructure bill …a trillion dollars , where is that going . Reparations . . After all bad roads are racist . Big trucks are white supremacy.

They will campaign on it then blame Republicans because it fails. Like all their over the top campaign promises. Democrats suck.

Richards, TX

Democrat presidential candidates will campaign on reparations for blacks .

J and E,, that is about the only thing these fucking Democrats have, Its very easy to see, especially after White Trump came in that the blacks are on to the Dems. playbook. Hispanics no their game too. In EAs words, the walls are in fact for real closing in on the Democrats and RINOs

EA....... Democrats run Flint. Your city is responsible for the services they provide. May want to take your liberal blinders off. Please give your expert excuse on Jackson, Mississippi also. Another Democratic ran city. You may want to retract your statement on water killing black people. Do white people not live in those cities also or is the bad water just selective to black people? Maybe white privilege has special antibodies that makes them immune to bad water. Give the racial shit a break dude, it's a rather divisive tool you liberals can't seem to stop using.

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

@JandE

You might want to retract your comments.

Look into the Flint situation. Wonder why there were 34 indictments? Wonder why the REPUBLICAN governor was indicted?

Me thinks you protest when thoust does not know the details.

Stupidass Ro.........when it comes to stinking ass Democrats, like yourself, everything is about race. You thrive on it like a bitch. You blame water on purposely killing black people. How stupid can one be? You sit there like a dumbass a blame a Republican governor, when stinking ass Democrats have ran Flint for decades. Learn to keep up in the forum and learn why responses are made to other statements. I believe you are to stupid to do that. Here you are running your mouth making it about race because you can't keep up and comprehend the forums. Either learn to do so or go take a fucking hike.

Angry White Guy...it you that has to see things by race...I really don't care about a persons race myself...Some very good friends of mine are people of color..that must disgust you

Angry white guy...How do you claim to know so much about Flint, Michigan water....I already told you what happened with the water there..yeas Flint is 55% Black..big deal unless you are an angry white guy...What percent white are you?

"What the government is good at is collecting taxes, taking away your freedoms and killing people. It's not good at much else."

When was the last time a war was fought in your back yard? Or a fire that burned down your neighborhood? Or a rapist or killer than ran thru your county?

Or planes that collided in our airspace? Or unregulated food and water that killed thousands in your state? Got many roads full off pot holes or streets left unplowed or uncleaned? Your kids and grandkids got good libraries and schools?

The government says stop bitching... andyou're welcome....

JandE73Veteran

Stupidass Ro.......Flint is a 55% black Town ran by black Democrats for years and years. What's your stupid democratic governor doing about it? Not 1 damn thing just like the Democrats running Flint for years and years. I know you hate white people but it's ok, you will just shout from a keyboard.

@angry white guy...Flint was the project of a republican governor who wanted to save money by breaking Flint away from the Detroit water system...sorry not a race thing

Day Late to the Game Pete Strikes Again

Buttigieg on Tuesday Feb 21, 2023 "And when I'm on the ground, it's going to be about action. It's not going to be about show or politics," he said.

So, you are all about action when you finally go to Ohio are ya?

Let's recap shall we.... Your responses have been a dismal attempt at deflection, blame, and now this. You declared that you aren't going there for a photo op. but are going there to take action. Hell Pete, that action should have come two weeks ago and not nearly three weeks into the disaster.

One thing Pete is consistent about - he continues to excel at the Peter Principle on the national stage for all to see!

The Flint and Jackson situation is not the US government. That is local governments trying to kill black people. It is as simple as that. That in itself could get 2500 words out of me

Lol. One of the most stupid and pathetic comments I have seen on here. Do you not realize these 2 cities are ran by black Democrats and have been for a while? Comments like this, just plain ignorant.

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

@destin

Think about it deeper.

The US government only offers flood insurance. It does not offer homeowners. If you want to argue state's rights, argue it consistently. Each state is allowed to set insurance regulations and requirements. Of course, there are federal laws regarding fraud, but on the whole, each state has an insurance commissioner. Why not argue how pathetic the Florida insurance commissioner is?

The southern border is not an invasion. You are not bunkered in. You do not have sirens going off for air raids. The US military is doing its job and protecting our country.

I do find it funny about the TSA comment. So because there have been no bombings, no more 9/11 they are not protecting us? HUH? So if there was another 9/11 then they would be an OK agency? That logic makes no sense.

The Flint and Jackson situation is not the US government. That is local governments trying to kill black people. It is as simple as that. That in itself could get 2500 words out of me.

I would not say we are on a downward trajectory at all. Again, as 5 would state, sure, I am an optimist. In my lifetime, I have seen the rankings of the superpowers go from US and Russia to us annihilating Russia and now we have China. The fact that it was ok to hate Russia in 1984 and now some think it is verboten to abhor them . . . that is fucking confusing.

The US government does a ton of wonderful things. People just don't want to give them credit for it. There is a group that wants to dismantle all of it. But that is the same idiotic group that for the last 10 years has stated that they have a better plan for health coverage for Americans. That plan is coming . . . just like Mickey's conspiracies.

Lillian, AL, Us

erotic,

Agreed with most of what you posted in your last, except the following:@5

Hurricane Ian survivors. The government gave assistance in the short term but the folks had to deal with insurance companies for claims on their homes and businesses to include flood insurance that many didn't purchase, bad on them.

Every US citizen because we have not been invaded. I don't think this one is true anymore because what is happening at the Southern Border. It really is an invasion.

Every time you get on a plane and realize that it is safer than driving. If you are talking about TSA the American public isn't safer at all. TSA is a joke and hasn't caught anyone really trying to damage an aircraft. I can speak from first hand experience on this one, I retired from the airline in 2021

Every time you drink water and don't worry that it is poisoned. The folks in Flint, MI and Jackson, MS might disagree with you on that one.

It's very easy to bitch, it is hard to compliment when your agenda is to say it is a POS. Even though we are on a downward trajectory I would still say we live in the best nation in the world. Don't know how much longer I will be able to say that though.

Correct EA.

The government does a lot of things well that you don't even think about.

It's like when someone farts in an elevator. You don't notice the air until it happens...

@5

The value of a service diminishes once it has been rendered.

Something tells me the following people aren't pissed at the government:

Hurricane Ian survivors.

Every US citizen because we have not been invaded.

Every time you get on a plane and realize that it is safer than driving.

Every time you drink water and don't worry that it is poisoned.

I can go on and on.

It's very easy to bitch, it is hard to compliment when your agenda is to say it is a POS.

Yes, I am optimistic. That is one trait that makes me an American. Without optimism, all the great things that our country has done would not exist. Pessimism, aka, being a negative nancy, will not make things happen. It will just force stagnation. If you want to say the last 3 decades of lack of work, I'd say go back to Reagan. I said it then and will state it now, Reagan was a horrendous president except for bankrupting the USSR.

In regards to mass transit, I think it is just like real estate, it is very local. When my cousin was alive and living in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Long Island, his family didn't own a vehicle and relied 100% on mass transit. And no, he was not poor or uneducated, he represented the owners of the Twin Towers in the 9/11 insurance case. When I spent time in Boston, mass transit worked. In South Florida, nope. You can't go underground there and you have massive areas. IMO, mass transit works well in highly dense areas.

I don't think the country has forgotten how to attain superior infrastructure. I just think you have had a series of congresses that will not allocate funds for it.

In regards to supporting the rest of the world . . . There is A lot there to unpack. Do you want to be number 1? If so, then we need to support the rest of the world as you state it. Without that, you would not have commerce. Our 2.5t in exports has to go somewhere.

I do like the snide comment about the pensions :) You failed to acknowledge that was from almost a year ago. It was 500 million, not BILLION, not TRILLIONS in governmental aid. That paid salaries, that paid pensions, that kept the government going. To me, 500 million seems a lot cheaper to pay than what we incurred in GWII and Afghanistan. I prefer proxy wars over risking American lives. What about you?

Got to love the dig on immigration as well. That argument was used by my people against your people. My people were in the first 10 boats over. Your people probably came between 1850 and 1910. I guess it was proven wrong in what my peeps said about your peeps. I wonder if it is the same, will you be wrong about what you say?

“What Is Government Good At?, politicians and public servants are good at generating and avoiding blame, playing to a segment of the population to win the next election, embracing and defending the status quo, adding management layers and staff, keeping government officials out of trouble, responding to demands from the president and his office, and managing a complex, party-centred organization. Conversely, they are not as good at defining the broader public interest, providing and recognizing evidence-based policy advice, managing human and financial resources with efficiency and frugality, innovating and reforming itself, being accountable to congress and to citizens, dealing with non-performers, paying sufficient attention to service delivery, and implementing and evaluating the impact of policies and programs.”

Orchard Beach, MD, Us

@EA..

I’m glad you are so optimistic. I doubt much will be done before I don’t exist anymore. Even 5 has become pothole ridden road worn. 99 has been going for 11 years and they have made 41 miles of progress.

The last major airport was almost 30 years ago. Only 5% of the population uses mass transit of any kind.

This country has forgotten how to attain superior infrastructure. Our tax dollars have appropriated horribly over the last 3 decades. It will take them a generation just to REPAIR what’s already in place. But just like the Golden gate.. when they are done painting it they go back and start again.

In my opinion we can’t keep up with our own being the 3 largest population of the world while supporting the rest of the world.

Again my opinion. You are seeing the forced taxation directly and indirectly of the American people that their prosperity will be doled out by 26% of what they are taxed to fund other nations. Even to the tune of paying their pensions.

All the while adding the burden of nearly 6 million more people who will not just migrate and become contributing factors for quite some time if ever.

I’m just waiting for that one disastrous attack from the inside that equals or eclipses the lives we lost on 911 by a terrorist organization that no doubt in my mind is already here and actively planning mas destruction of infrastructure in our country. I hope I’m wrong, but…
