There is no question that the Russians interfered in the election.

There is no question that the Trump campaign knew about it. And encouraged it.

The saving grace is that the campaign was too incompetent to collude.

There is no question that Trump himself tried to obstruct justice.

The Republicans are too drunk with power to do anything about it.

It's a Catch-22 situation.

If they proceed with impeachment and the Senate doesn't convict then Trump claims total exoneration just in time for the next election.
Of course, he'll claim that either way.

Still, it is their job to impeach if the evidence is sufficient. But who expects Congress to do their jobs?

I don’t disagree. That just makes the Rule of Law commentary all the more juvenile. Plus if we assume the Senate would never vote for impeachment, why continue the charade. It’s not about the law or who’s above it, it’s for campaign flyers and television commercials.

It's an obvious political decision by the house not to impeach. The Republican controlled senate would never convict.
