There are numerous members of the former administration who have stated the the withdrawal treaty was a game. It was never intended to happen. It was a way for the last Administration to install a shared government. The former administration used the withdrawal treaty as a tool to possibly keep 800-850 troops in country as a “counterterrorism “ strike force.

Did the previous Presidents give the order to walk away from the most secured location in Afghanistan a month and a half before the commencement of the withdrawal?
Did the previous three Presidents give the order to recall additional troops back to Afghanistan where several were killed by an explosive device?
Did the previous Presidents give the order to leave behind Americans to fend for themselves in a hostile environment?
The answer is Joe made those decisions, not the other three Presidents and that is hard for you to accept, but those are facts.

One card President Trump could never play is a sympathetic or directly personal identification with those who served in war or who had sons who served in the military based on his own service record and that of his children.
I think Trump got deferred from being drafted to serve in Vietnam because of bunions on his feet (and GW Bush served at home in Texas in National Guard during Vietnam War, as I remember it without fact checking myself. Unlike Biden, Trump had no son who served in the military and certainly not in a war zone as did Beau.
I expect every president to be manipulative of our sentiments, and some do it worse than others.
My own personal problem is presidents who appeal in deeply manipulative ways to sentiments of fear and xenophobia and patriotism and belief in God and a rhetoric of dehumanization and the USA as the most righteous and exceptional nation—a heroic savior from evil—and always on the side of God and justice to sanction our wars.

If he was sincere, he would have used Beau's death to, personally not publicly, console those people who lost their loved ones yesterday.
