I look at it this way , now John Durham could look into the Obama / Biden Administration and the Russian hoax .
BOOMERANG , I love watching Democrats destroying themselves .

“ This is important because presidents have meetings with all manner of people for all manner of reasons. The president can't get honest advice if the people he is talking to don't have confidence that what they say won't end up on the front page of the New York Times.”
If the President is seeking, “honest” or honorable advice? They shouldn’t have to worry.
MIckey you never fail to entertain me.
Discovery?
WTF.
This is the release of papers that HE CREATED to a committee investigating HIM.
Let's start with something simple . . .
He has the papers because he created them. What can he discover?
There are no charges against him. This is an investigation. When did discovery come into play?
If or when this is tried, it will go over to the DoJ. The feds have a 99.6% success rate in cases. Hmm . . . :)
Been doing a little digging and listening to a few good sources. Again Trump trapped them into fucking up even more. Now that they have done this, which is what the white hats wanted, this gives Trump discovery in. His team will get every piece of paper work and any and all video footage of the Jan 6th bullshit. They have it all anyway but this is the legal and lawful way to do this. Another 5D check mate.

Perhaps my memory is failing me.
You are leaving out a few very important points in this discussion to justify your position.
Nixon tried to invoke executive privilege with the Watergate tapes. SCOTUS ruled against him.
Clinton tried to invoke executive privilege with the Lewinsky blowjob. SCOTUS ruled against him.
So to say that SCOTUS has never done this, is incorrect.
ISSA went after Holder, Obama invoked Executive Privilege. The courts ruled against Obama.
Trump tried to claim executive privilege when he is not the president. Now where you are correct is that presidents have tried to extend it on behalf of former presidents. But think this through . . .
I would not say that Trump has ingratiated himself with Biden. Perhaps this is as simple as karma. That is one angle.
The other angle, uhh . . . let's see . . . there was a gallows outside to hang Pence. There were rioters inside the capitol. That is another angle. Either the documents exonerate Trump or they don't. To steal a line from all the conservatives who often used this during the Patriot Act signing . . . if you aren't guilty, you shouldn't care.
Another angle . . . the committee still could have sued and more than likely won in SCOTUS. This was just moving the ball along faster.
Another angle . . . people are well aware that there is a clock ticking on this committee and want to make sure the committee doesn't dissolve before anything happens.
Regardless, I do not think this is as huge as you are making it out to. Read the ruling. It is 4 pages long. It is interesting in what Kavanaugh wrote. He is politicizing this and that I do not like. He is stating that the lower court's ruling should not be used as precedent moving forward. Kavanaugh though is full of shit because he is quoting the Nixon situation and how the court ruled on POLICY. These documents are NOT about policy.
Regardless, I am of the principle that no one is above the law. If Obama committed a crime, try him. If Trump committed a crime, try him. The title of the office does not make anyone immune from the laws. Our country, was in theory, created to not have a monarch. Monarch's are above the law.
I'm sure hoping this is just a scene in this movie we have been watching for a year as of tomorrow. I'm also hoping and praying that this shit show ends soon. And the Government gets a serious reduction to about 10%, Just hoping.

This is huge. It's one of those kind of things that one side cheers about when it happens, but will eventually come back to bite them on the ass. People on both sides don't appreciate the hugeness of this. The Trump defenders are mad because it's Trump, and the Trump haters are happy because it's Trump, with neither side really understanding what just happened. Up until now, EVERY president has defended executive privilege as a part of defending the OFFICE. This is important because presidents have meetings with all manner of people for all manner of reasons. The president can't get honest advice if the people he is talking to don't have confidence that what they say won't end up on the front page of the New York Times. Biden is the first president to not defend the idea of executive privilege, and the court allowing it to pass, is even crazier. In my adult lifetime, since I've been paying close attention to politics, it never mattered about who the president was. Clinton defended George H.W. Bush when congress wanted his records. George W. Bush defended Clinton when congress wanted his records. Obama defended George W. Bush when congress wanted his records. Trump defended Obama when congress wanted his records. Biden is the first to break that, and it will come back to haunt every future president, and it isn't good for any of us, no matter which team you're on.
