Civics 101

25 senators and 80 house representatives ALL “republicans” voted against funding FEMA.

Disaster is for everyone. Every state and territory. None of this red blue bullshit.

Donald did that. Because it’s never been about what’s best for the country with him. It’s always about what is best for donald and only donald.

Be grateful for whatever aid is available because donalds administration will gut fema if he gets into office. He even wants to privatize weather information for profit.

Blue states subsidize the aid given to red states. Taxes both state and federal are quite a lot yet the domestic programs in CT are great.

My medication would cost 90,000 a year but CT subsidizes it.
There’s daycare, terrific hospitals, free job training, fantastic schools,

The power is the costliest stateside, that’s been curtailed somewhat the last few years.

Reproductive freedom is not at risk in this state. Federally it may be at risk but not here.

To the background concern of how much taxpayer money is going where, observe that the creation and allocation of the national budget is congressionally determined. While the President can and does propose a budget, the legislative branch of government--the Congress--determines the size and allocation. The President cannot arbitrarily reallocate funds across budget lines. For example, the President cannot reallocate foreign aid to domestic programs (or vice versa) with Congressional approval. Regarding the development of disaster management funds, it is well to look at how support of additional FEMA funds have broken across party lines. Unsurprisingly, the party of "rugged individualism" has consistently voted against greater federal disaster relief, suggesting that this should be the responsibility of local and state agencies (and their budgets). As we have seen with Helene and we are about to see with Milton, natural disasters are politically neutral: they wreak havoc regardless of the affiliation of the communities in their path. Homes and lives have been lost and will continue to be lost. The conversation here should not be about one party helping the other. It should be about Americans committing to help their fellow Americans.

I thought civics was mandatory in public school curriculum?

The teacher was an ex marine and scary. He had a giant paddle made of drilled wood mounted on the wall just behind the lectern.

If you didn’t turn in an assignment, were disrespectful or some other offense then the student, Mr Courtney and the paddle left the classroom.

The man was an educational terrorist.
