That's awesome. Sounds like you have a forever four legged furball. Congrats
WHAT THE HELL PEOPLE
I just wanted to update everyone on Lucky. She is THRIVING and is a total joy. She is house broken and is such a fast learner. I'm thinking about as she gets a little older to train her as a therapy dog to visit patients in hospitals.
The fact she's under weight and covered in fleas that alone shows neglect and no chip, collar or name tag shows neglect in caring for Lucky. Good for you in keeping her.
The fact you took her to a Vet and she had to be cared for by the Vet, most likely by you and you did everything a responsible pet owner should do which is clear the prior owner did not.
If the puppy is truely happy and has gotten the care she needs then I'm all for you keeping it.
Is there a FB group titled "Lost Pets of Venice FL" I would try posting a picture of her there? It's possible that someone broke down and the dog got out of the car and ran off before they noticed and then couldn't find her.
We tend to think the worst of people when we find a neglected pet but luckily you came along and found her. I'm sure her owners would be happy you found her and are taking great care of her too.
It's only been 9 days, I've heard of a pet being reunited after 9 months of being gone. Good luck and keep up the good work.
"She is smart as she picked up on going out to go bathroom in two days. I can say she is housebroken."
I hope Mrs. G doesn't see that, she'd rub my nose in it. All these years and I still ain't housebroken.
Thank you for the update on Lucky. It sounds like she found a forever home. May you be blessed with many great years with her.
UPDATE ON LUCKY; Other than wanting to chew everything which is fine with me, this dog is a total love joy. She is smart as she picked up on going out to go bathroom in two days. I can say she is housebroken.
You have no idea what Animal-Cruelty is like in suburban coma land..........try ridingt hru the ghetto or inner city to see dogs chained to wheel rims dragging them down the street..... or owners sicing their dogs onto other dogs & cats for fun....and so much more....... sickening.
Good for you. In how you described the condition of the puppy if it did belong to someone a mile down the road she will be better off with you. No ID, no chip, under weight and fleas, she does not need to go back from where she came from. God bless you.
Stories like that make me wish even more, that there truly is karma waiting for people who do this kind of thing.
Good on you, I don’t understand hoe people do that sort of thing.
I’m thinking that next time I’m in Florida, I should stop by and visit Lucky. Maybe some of her luck will rub off on me.
What about a mile away from the road? Just saying. Maybe there's a house way over there and the dog legit got lost.
"The Vet said it's clear she was dumped, so I'm calling her Lucky and she's now chipped, licensed, has a pretty pink name tag."
that's awesome that you kept her. people suck :(
The Vet said it's clear she was dumped, so I'm calling her Lucky and she's now chipped, licensed, has a pretty pink name tag.
@ Good, no chip, no collar or name tag, under weight, needed a flea bath. All my prior dogs have been chipped, collar, name tagged with number.
"I'm keeping her, she is such a loving puppy."
I hope you make an effort to find out if someone is looking for that puppy- at least have it scanned to see if it's been "chipped." I get all my dogs chipped ASAP now. I once turned my back on a puppy and it disappeared in less than 20 seconds.
I looked all night. I was outside still looking in the AM when the neighbor's garage door opened. Out popped the puppy. I don't know who was more surprised- me or the neighbor. Little bitch spent the whole night in the neighbor's garage.
The pup apparently followed the neighbor and was snooping around in the garage when the neighbor went inside and closed their garage- never noticed the puppy. Those neighbors had helped me search the neighborhood for my puppy for hours the night before.
Puppy got "chipped" that AM.
@ VA, Damn auto correct. I meant "at least".
That's awful. So glad you found them and helped them out.
Aside: Does "Nothing on this road for atheist a mile each way" mean that there is nothing but churches nearby?
May an infestation of 1000 bedbug bites along with 1000 fleas revenge that little puppy on whoever dropped her off like that.
There is a special place in Hell for people who do bad things to animals.
After a glorious first meet that lasted into 2 days on the way home I saw something small moving on the side of the road which had me stop. A little Dachshund female puppy. Nothing on this road for atheist a mile each way so some JACKASS must have dumped her. I don't understand people who would do a horrible thing like this.
I'm keeping her, she is such a loving puppy. This chat is for us to post the dumb things people do.
