Our veterans are very special and should never be forgotten . I keep hearing every so often that every day
20 veterans take their own life. We all need to to better for these people.
Last night we watched the movie on NETFLIX Liberator a movie based on true events of the WWII Thunderbirds . A group of soldiers made up of Mexicans, American Indians and Texas Cowboys. The officer of these men was a cowboy Felix Sparks . The Thunderbirds fought from Africa and Anzio to Dauchau
There are four parts the first part is excellent Why We Fight .
Veterans Day
You're welcome
Thank you to each and every man and woman out there that has served our country. You have all experienced loss and suffering in one form or another, and for that we can never repay you for your loss. Can't be said enough,,,,, Thank You.
Something that really bothered me this morning.
Someone posted a series of pictures for Veterans Day, most of which were quite old. One particular one was of a WW1 soldier suffering from shell shock.
"Shell shock" of course being a specific kind of PTSD which, while still impacting some combatants, was largely associated with the psychosocial impacts of prolonged explosions and gunfire common to the trench warfare of the day. My great grandfather had terrible shell shock - a door slam or other loud noise could cause him to wet his pants or cower in the corner more than 60 years later.
Anyway - this particular soldier in this picture had a facial expression that really bothered me. From the vacant stare, mouth hanging open and total lack of tone in the facial muscles - the face of someone who has gone through a hell. It hit me really hard.
Or if you grew up in some other parts of the world, Remembrance Day.
Thank you to everyone who has served. Your/their sacrifices should never been forgotten.
