over the last 3 years, i dropped about 100 pounds - didn't need surgery for it, my body gave itself a hiatal hernia (which no one diagnosed) so for about a year I wasn't hungry and when i ate it didn't take much. it was great I dropped a lot of weight BUT i wasn't eating good - took about a year to learn how to eat when you only eat a little. You have to get the right mix of nutrients. as to OP, I had a little bit of sagged skin - I massaged the area daily - not sure if it helped limit the amount of sag? but hey. We played with a few couples, where the woman had lost weight with excess skin - which doesn't bother me at all but they had said others walked because of it. I had an unrelated surgery after I lost 50 pounds and my post op orders required me to walk every day - after I started doing that - coupled with the lite eating that dropped the rest of the weight, as well as my a1c - also helps tone your core muscles which will also help tighten up some skin. In the end, however, it's how she feels, and what she wants. Sucks that insurance doesn't cover it though - youd think going through all that to lose the weight which will cost them less in the end if you stick with it that they would want to have you mentally good.
Swinging after Bariatric surgery
The 1 person I mentioned gained some back but definitely not of all of it. I think that in addition to reducing the amount of food she could eat, she made better choices in the type of food she ate.
Carrot and celery snack instead of bags (yeah, bags) of Doritos with cheese dip.
I know a bunch of women that had bariatric surgery, and everyone eventually gained all their weight back
I'm curious how things are going for the OP. It's been over a year since they posted in here.
I knew 1 person who underwent the procedure. Like someone else posted here, they lost the equivalent of a whole 'nother person in weight. Unfortunately they also had a myriad of other health issues and passed away about 5 (6?) years after the surgery. I don't think the surgery was a contributing factor, but I do think the surgery helped add several years to her life.
Wife lost a lot of weight and in 2008, she had a full body lift. Wasn't fun but she's happy she did it (so am I)
FUN.. One reason I always ...always carry even for dog walks!
Coyotes in Ga and Thugs who go around in FL looking to jack you for what one may be wearing! Old "Janson" belly bags work wonders even with gym wear.. LOL
Now back to our regular scheduled OP question.
RonKathy I agree. He is history!
Well I almost had to get surgery last night . As I was out with my dog walking the backlands when out of nowhere came three coyotes . They didn’t come after us but were close enough , went back to the house. My dog is a 50lb Staffordshire terrior . He would have been no match. These three looked like big German Shepherds.
One ... Block him.. he has become doom and gloom .. and tells all about every part of his life..gets old!
We did and now enjoy the forums much better.. matter of fact we do it with all these doom and gloom people!
Surgery is done. I survived. Now, recovery.
Mrs VA lost over 150 pounds from 2011-2013 and has mostly kept it off.
Once her weight stabilized and the skin retracted as much as possible, she had two surgeries to lift everything and remove the extra skin.
It was an ordeal, but she's happy she did it.
He always has to let everyone know about all his woes
I never said they were related.
Melvin~ your upcoming surgery really doesn't have anything to do with the questions asked by the OP
Though I will not be getting bariatric surgery tomorrow, I am getting colonic surgery tomorrow. I have had to do the same preparing that the misses of the original poster, had done.
To me, the surgery will be physically life saving and mental health saving. Overall, with having to completely overhaul my life, this surgery will be the last thing needing correction, after a lifetime of unknown food allergy (until it was found in July 2022) and unknown familial mental abuse.
Bariatric surgery and colonic surgery are two different surgeries. But, they take place physically close to one another, in the body.
The perspective that matters is the person inside the skin. Bariatric surgery, when successful, results in profound weight loss and an envelope that is much larger than the contents. Resizing the envelope has implications for both physical and mental health. There will be scars, of course, and those can be allowed to fade or covered with tattoos. Far more important, though, is the commitment to a healthier way of nutrition, exercise, and moderation in forces known to cause injury.
We are starting the path to a boob job, body lift and underarm surgery... yep its expensive, but if that's what she wants then I guess I work two jobs for a while. Lol
She goes to the gym every morning after her shift, getting that tan now too. She looks sexy to me. But like with life not everybody is everybody's cup of tea..
"I don’t think I would be kicking her out of the bed "
I agree, she looks great. I think if anyone has a problem with her looks, you probably don't want to be with them anyway.
Davbec- took a look at your profile. I don’t know how recent the pictures are but she looks fine. I don’t think I would be kicking her out of the bed for eating crackers ;P
Izzy had sleeve surgery, although she was just on the cusp of what the insurance company would allow for qualification. Her skin issues are minimal and she does a great job of using her outfits to compliment her. We aren pretty well in the middle when it comes to looks, but I have found that many women are more particular of how a man looks then vice versa. We have always tried to keep to our ‘lane’ looks wise. If we are not someone’s cup of tea, we might be someone’s latte.
We know many people- almost all of them women- who have gone down this road.
Mrs VA lost a lot of weight 10 years ago, and had a body lift done. Left some scars but looks way better. Others we know with similar journeys did the same.
Honestly- it will not fix itself. Consult a plastic surgeon for anything she is still concerned about, and save your pennies. It will be worth it. I promise.
Almost a year to the day my wife embarked on a path to a healthier weight. She took the big plunge and decided on bariatric surgery. Over the course of a year she has lost well over 110lbs. Now with that being said she is happier, healthier, and in a better place mentally. Our sex life has been awesome and we are at the age of being empty nesters and getting back into the lifestyle. So far we have come across a few who just couldn't deal with the lose skin or the fact the boobs go away.
Our question is has anyone else ever had this problem? Thanks
