Pineapples are a sign often used by swingers. I was on a cruise recently in which the occupants of a cabin I walked by had placed pineapples on their cabin door. I made it a point to go by their cabin several times. At one point they happened to come out of the cabin as I was approaching theirs. I followed them to the pool area, and when the opportunity to talk to then presented itself, I made casual conversation with them.
Let me share this. You can never assume anything. Just because they had pineapples on their door doesn't mean they are necessarily swingers. In this case the pineapples proved to be the signal I had hoped for.
It was during that small talk and subtle sexual hints that got me an invite to their cabin for a drink later that night. I went there with no expectations other than if the opportunity arose to take the conversation to a deeper sexual level, I would. When I arrived at their, cabin they were both dressed in their dinner attire, and it wasn't long into the conversation that I mentioned the pineapples. They looked at each other and then both fixed their gaze on me and she said, "we didn't invite you here just to make small talk, we were delighted when you approached us at the pool and had an idea that you knew the meaning and were interested in being with us. "
The pineapple can be a good indicator, but I always approach it with a level of reserve and caution. It does make for at least an attempt at a conversation that is initially vanilla in nature. During that conversation is when I pay attention to subtle hints and body language which are key indicators as to where they are at - either swingers or not swingers. Hope that helps
