How gain weight?

While on this subject, was just on vacation with part of that being on a cruise and the whole 3 weeks spent eating out and drinking more than normal. After 3 weeks of that, plus being off of my intermittent fasting and eliminating my one full fast day on Wednesdays during this time, I gained less than 10 lbs. Two days later, all but 2 lbs of that has come off.

At one point about a week ago I weighed myself and was within a pound or so of my pre-vacation weight, so it seems that, just like losing weight takes time, so can gaining weight, though the process of gaining weight usually tends to be much more fun ;-)

I will say that we were doing a LOT more walking than we usually did, with a couple days exceeding 25K steps. Either way, it just goes to show that your body seems to like to maintain an equilibrium and resist changes in weight.

In my younger years, no matter what I did I could not gain weight, and I had a HUGE appetite. If this is still your situation (minus the appetite), it will be difficult.

I can remember unconsciously eating a 1 lb bag of potato chips and a 1/2 gal of ice cream in under 2 hours while watching a movie, and then eat a large lunch, supper, and snack lots in between. Eating like that was something I did regularly too. I was 6' 2" and 150 lbs. Not my problem these days ;-)

If you look at the weight watchers diet, they rate food items with "points". If you focused on consuming high point food items, that may help, but may not be partiularly healthy. Below is a cut/paste of an example of how they calculate points -

For example, based on the calculation for weight watchers points, every 50 calories would be equal to one point and every 12 grams of fat is equal to one point and for every gram of fiber (up to 4 grams) you deduct 1/5 of a point.

So if a food item had 100 calories, 2 fat grams and 2 fibers, you would use the following formula to calculate weight watchers points.

(100/50) + (2/12) – (2/5)

2 + .17 - .4 = 1.77 points

I would like to beef up a little more to where I one was, and put on some muscle. But hard to keep up with calories. I get bored of eating, not want to stop what I'm doing, not want to mess up kitchen again, etc. Also feel sated quickly when I eat. Any tips for high calorie easy foods or schedule techniques? (Have done the protein powder shake mixes sometimes but it's a lot of bother.)
