Body for Life??

GGMM, thanks, I dont have a big issue with the eating portion of it as I like most of the foods used. I went and joined our local gym this week and when talking with the trainer we went over the workout schedule for BFL, and she also said it is similar to what she does with her clients, so I figured to just follow it.

I couldn't do the diet portion of Body for Life for a variety of reasons, but the weightlifting program was solid. In fact, I'd happily do it today if I wanted to lift more than the two days a week I do now.

I'm always skeptical about the sustainability of diet programs that require a fairly radical shift in eating patterns, but if you're willing to make a change in both what and how you eat and BfL's food suggestions fit within your healthy dietary palette (too much protein, the wrong carbs, and not enough fat for me, but we're all different), then it's a good program. I haven't checked, but there used to be a really good online support group associated with it, which always helps.

When I was 49 I realised I was getting older and fat....and that I had control over only one of those factors. I started eating healthy foods, small portions, and walking for exercise. The walking became easy jogging and the healthy eating continued. It takes time, we don't get out of shape overnight and the same is true of regaining fitness. The first sign of success was feeling my clothes being looser. I went from 185 to 160 in less than a year. I am now 74, 155# , feeling great and have a body that gets compliments. Fitness is sexy.

Anyone here try the body for life program? We did it years ago with some success, however after many years of bad decisions, poor eating, stress, and surgeries, we need something to get us back into better shape.
