We we are your hosts northern guy and southern girl in today's episode we're going to talk about a little little recent rendezvous we had we are it was kind of a very last minute we finally got to sneak off and nobody knew we were going yeah uh so as we're recording this it was last weekend yeah we snuck away to a gems hotel takeover uh in birmingham alabama correct for our friend um southern bella yeah i was trying to think of her username i didn't want to say her real name yeah so southern bella's birthday party yeah so So we had not committed to going because I actually thought I had my kid all weekend.
But we ended up not. We've been kind of flip-flopping weekends with his dad. Yeah, life's just trying to be crazy lately. And so I thought we weren't free. And then I figured out we were free.
And then when I figured out we free friday night it's a week it was a weekend long thing and she had asked several times she loves jim's parties she promotes them heavily and we love that she supports them um and she's been trying to get us to go for a long time we actually went to a jim's party back in 2020 uh like right after we got married so we got married the first of october it was a halloween party so i actually swung with my first guy after we got married there so the first not your husband dick yeah that you had inside you yeah was a random guy yeah that you don't even know his name i don't from a gems party yeah he had no idea that was the last time he went to a gem's party yeah um and i'm gonna be honest the hotel we knew you know obviously we've been there it's not the greatest if you go to most hotel takeovers it's usually like a three-star right hotel right um splash friction they typically have what like better quality hotels naughty naughty of course um but that's like next step up yeah so i think if you go to a local uh so like you know splash events are kind of like more of a national event where people travel for all over yeah naughtyy New Orleans is a national event where people travel from all over to come in for one event.
But most cities have some type of local hotel takeover group. And it's usually just somebody that saw a need for a party and they were like, nobody else would do it.
Yeah, we've talked and interviewed some of these hotel event coordin coordinators and it's funny how similar a lot of their stories are most of them started hosting meet and greets at a bar and then they got too big for the bar and so they they took over a floor of a hotel and the next thing they know they ended up taking over an entire hotel and then sometimes they move to a bigger hotel and they start doing ballrooms and they start doing playrooms like it just grows and grows.
It's amazing how organic a lot of these these stories are. And I think that's the case with gems. And there's probably these type groups all over the U.S. Right. And people like you got like a vibe. Yeah. In Nashville. Vibe in Nashville. A lifestyle connections in Charlotte. These are all kind of the same. Kind of like homegrown. Right. Like takeovers. Carolina Friends.
Is that North carolina we haven't been to one of their events no we haven't we see them at naughty in new orleans all the time and they're like you gotta come you gotta come yeah uh even friction is is kind of i'd say more of a regional yeah but i feel like they're a little bigger i mean they're like dc maryland uh north carolina so they have a little bigger region yeah uh but in there probably a little bit more name brand than some of these other ones but uh yeah it seems it seems very organic how these groups come together and grow so like the hotel's not my favorite and we kind of obviously we need that going in everybody gems knows that everybody knows everybody knows it you know it's just that it is what it is it's hard to find a hotel that'll let a bunch of swingers come hardy at it it's just it just yeah which is a little frustrating yeah even at gems there's no public playrooms yeah so the only sex that happens is in the hotel rooms yeah which there's sex happening in hotel rooms every weekend like you know i mean like swingers are not the only people that fuck in a hotel room yeah so the fact that that hotel is being taken over by swingers doesn't really change you know what's happening really the only difference is they're throwing a music party in the ballroom yeah which you know if you did that as another group if you i'm sure weddings happen at that same ballroom and they do the exact same thing where a wedding comes has a party in the ballroom and then the wedding party people probably go fuck in the hotel like so the fact that swingers kind of get put under this different stigma and get kind of shunned out of you know they get we've approached hotels and tried to do events and try to do a complete hotel takeovers before and the amount of times we reach out to a hotel and ask for availability they give us a bunch of dates and then we kind of explain who we are and what we're trying to do and then they say oh, oh, we're sorry.
We're booked up for next year. It's like, no, you're not. You already told me these dates were a bit, and that's how they do it. They just, they kind of, they discriminate. That's 100% what they're doing. They're discriminating against you. It's very frustrating. But so anyway, that's the struggle is it's hard to get a four or five-star hotel.
It tends to be you have to find a hotel that needs the money, that't normally sell out on weekends and so the money draw of them having a sold out weekend is worth them you know and it's maybe because they're not such a big brand that they're not worried about it ruining their brand you know i mean they're like we know we're kind of an average to shitty hotels so it's okay if people know that we have a swinger party here yeah so that anyway that's a side note but that tends to be the case so friday night was just a meet and greet um saturday was the actual like party party right so we knew going in that we were only going to be there friday night which kind of sucked but several of our friends were like honestly we like friday better it's a little bit like i get it i mean a lot of times i like thursdays at secrets the best yeah yeah same so um we got there probably around four ish we got checked in um luckily we were able to get a last minute room for the night so super glad gems hooked us up thank you thank you um we went to our room got settled and we didn't unpack or anything because we were just there for a night so we just kind of like sat everything down and then um all of our friends were going to have dinner in the restaurant yes downstairs why are you no i i was gonna say describe the restaurant for people um it's it it's it's a mom and pop mom and pop the lady's name was mom actually everybody calls her mama yeah she's actually super kind i think she's korean i saw the sign it said korean i could i hope i'm not wrong on that because i don't want to misbeet um but she serves all kinds of food right and it was all delicious handmade her mom and her father were there cooking um and I think they said she's like in her 60s.
She had everything from like Chinese food to like cheeseburgers to pork chops. Yeah, pork chops. You know, everything you could think of. It was exactly what you would imagine a restaurant in an okay type. In a three-star hotel. Yeah. Ran by mama. Ran by mama.
Um by mama um but she i mean we had probably 10 of us and she did a very good job of making sure that we were all taken care of she was very sweet everything was cooked perfectly well and you can tell most of the gems people that go to gems party like they like know her like they're like friends like yeah it's very it's and apparently like during the week a lot of people come there to eat like people that are local like people they're just like people that work yeah um so we had like dinner um and then we got back to the room we kind of relaxed a little bit so nobody knew we were going and i didn't have an outfit and And Southern Bella was like, bring black lingerie.
We're doing three blind mice. And I was so confused. I was like, why? Because. So the theme was. The theme was Alice in Wonderland. No. The theme was Dirty Disney. Oh, Dirty Disney. Yeah. But she would did. Her room was Alice in Wonderland. Her room was Alice in Wonderland. So I'm like sitting there trying to rack my brain. Like how does three blind mice with Disney? But I guess three blind mice, there is a Disney three blind mice movie.
That's like an old cartoon, like way back in like the Mickey Mouse original days. I have no idea. And then three blind mice are in Shrek. I think they're in a couple other. But it's in Shrek. Three blind mice is like a children's. Yeah, I know that. I was just trying to like associate. Like how does that associate with Disney? There's no like big Disney movie. Yeah. But there was some, I guess, old cartoons that had. And then, so she was like, Green Lingerie, I have ears, tail, all the things.
I'm like, okay. I didn't ask a lot of questions. I just kind of went for it. Then when I got there, I realized there's not three blind mice.
There three one there's 13 yeah or something like that there's like 12 or 13 mice so it was so anyway so she gives us all these things and the glasses are like pitch black dark like literally make you blind like you can't see like you have to lift them up to see and we're inside and the lights are dim so it's like super hard and you have like the blind cane thing yeah what do we call that the like a i don't know what it's called like a seeking cane the walking cane yeah walking cane for blind people yeah god we're tearing up all these keep going so anyway so i get my outfit on and like i did not want to make tiktoks because every event every party we are to i make tiktoks and i was like dan i don't want to wear i'm not taking pictures i'm not making any i don't want to do anything and he's like you need to take a couple you look cute like yeah the outfit actually is pretty cute somehow i pulled it together um so i did and then all of you together i really like those pictures yeah yeah and we ended up later in the night all the girls took pictures so that was fun and then um and then we were ready you just wore regular clothes i wore like yeah a black shirt and a pair of shorts i don't even think it was a black shirt it was like a swinger shirt oh yeah you're right i wore a t-shirt yeah yeah you with a pineapple on it so you just got to live your best life yeah like i'm not put me out of me too and i fit in perfectly though yeah you did actually so we did um that and then so on friday night there's a room crawl it was two floors which was a little confusing because i felt like we went back third and fourth floor we went back and forth we like lsc which lifestyle connections in north carolina does like a party floor like they call them shot rooms and i like that better i'm not gonna lie because it's like one long hallway and you just go back and forth and then it's like everybody's in the hallway and it just seems like a party and they put a dj on the floor on there correct um but it worked so we um and pretty simple.
I mean, you just, I think if you had a balloon outside of your door, you were. Yeah. They, they marked, I think there's balloons or something. I don't know if that was like mandatory, if that's what kind of everybody did. No, because I know, um, Ms. K and Farmer were not an official one, so they didn't have a balloon, but they had their door open.
And then, like I said, like the, um, there's a lot of people that just opened their door and gave out shots and so it was really fun yeah i actually had a really good time i did too lacy got a little drunk i was a little tipsy you really started to get a little drunk a little tipsy i hadn't i didn't eat a lot yeah so um but it was i felt like i made sure though i only drank vodka i asked everybody so i was like i'm not mixing all of these liquors if you've never participated in a room crawl basically the way it works is you go from room to room and there's designated like room crawl rooms the host of that room usually decorates the room kind of puts it in some kind of theme and then they make some kind of shot of their choice usually they're like a mixed drink shot they're not like a pure alcohol shot it's some kind of like cocktail shot um but when you get that you get a whole there was gummy bear shots there was like strawberry daiquiri shots there was ones that had pop rocks you have some tequila some tito so if you can imagine if you're going room to room and you're taking a shot, and some of these rooms have two or three options for shots, so you could do one of each, those shots add up.
And like Lacey said, you're mixing sugar and food and tequila and rum and vodka and whiskey. We had hooch. Hooch is like what they make in prison.
It's like hooch is take you find some fruit and ferment it i don't think and make it into alcohol i don't think i think theirs was probably made out of real i don't think they made it like yeah it was absolutely they made it in the toilet bowl of their house but i think it was like a modern probably use real alcohol but trying to capture the essence of hooch i don't know it's pretty good yeah it was like a fruit punchy kind of yeah and we got to meet a lot of people i think a lot of people were surprised that we were there because nobody knew um i also felt like at the most recent events that we've gone to even like naughty in new orleans and bliss crews i felt like we were getting stopped a lot we did but everyone was gems we didn't get stopped as much no we did not the that did speak to us were very like.
I know you guys were trying to fly. Yeah, they were very kind. Like, so what brought y'all here? Like, kind of like, why are you here? It was. I think they're used to us doing the big things. But we were super excited to do the small. Like, that's what we started. I miss it. Yeah. I don't think.
You know, maybe we need to be more intentional of trying to do more but the problem is we do so many events now there's no like if we did then more events on top of that we're just we'd never be able to be it was fun i wouldn't mind going to a gym's party a few times a year though i mean especially like even if we just go friday night like right that we can get away or honestly i wish we could go to lsc party i miss lsc a vibe i'd love to go to a vibe party you know like those i mean i think you're going to other people's parties that being a little more low-key not you know uh that is so much fun yeah um so i mean that's really what like the bulk of our night was just going in and out of rooms we hung out in the hallway they brought these big fans in for extra air so we like hung out in the hallway i mean it was it was just a good it was a good night but southern bella had a plan she did so there is one like play room i guess you could call it and it's essentially like a suite on the third floor and they just kind of decorate it for a playroom so they they take one of the hotel i actually think it's connecting so i think it's actually two hotels okay and they designate that the playroom yeah the southern bell is like i know there's gonna be a lot of people here for my birthday and that public playroom always gets really busy and she's like so i don't want to have to go in there and fight for space and i also don't want to be on display so to speak right i don't want to have a bunch of strangers watching us if we're trying to play so she made her own playroom yeah so she rented the fourth floor suite and like and then she had her own room so she had a room and then the suite and she literally like decorated the whole thing in Alice in Wonderland they had a blow-up six chair chair um a motor bunny and a Santa's cross yeah and the motor bunny she had like probably 20 to 25 attachments attachments that i didn't even know they made right those uh like bad dragon attachments yeah yeah i mean she had whips and chains a whole table i don't think like we fully got to enjoy no she had backdrops it was really cool actually um yeah it was it was a really good job and so like towards the end of the night when it was like time to play we started the signal cuckoo yeah cuckoo but it was it was actually not super late like 11 30 probably yeah that would be my guess um and so we get in there and if you know buffy and delane they've been on the podcast quite often they were supposed to meet get in there, and if you know Buffy and Dwayne, they've been on the podcast quite often.
They were supposed to meet us in there. Well, you should preface that.

we had a lot of sex that night yeah like i didn't really think they i was thinking back to the event and i was like oh yeah that was fun yeah like talking about us like holy fuck we probably fucked for almost three hours yeah it was hot it was a good time i had a really good time and what's crazy is by this point like i didn't drink that much i mean i was a little tipsy like 9 30 10 but like at that point i hadn't had any alcohol i only for hours yeah i only had only drank the shots like i hadn't had i didn't have like a like an actual cup of alcohol or anything Thank you.
But, like, at that point, I hadn't had any alcohol. I only drank. For hours. Yeah, I only had only drank the shots. Like, I didn't have, like, an actual cup of alcohol or anything. We got back to the room, and I was like, I'm going to be sick. I'm going to throw up. And I threw up a lot. And then I brushed my teeth and went to bed. When you do that, when you drink, you just, like. It's like it sits on my stomach. It's like not, like, I just got to get it out. Yeah.
If that makes sense if that makes sense so it wasn't like i'm so drunk and fucked up i need to puke it was like like you said like almost like food poisoning or something like i just need to get this off of myself yeah i just feels it may maybe it was like all the sugar i don't know but i just felt like blah so once i threw up i felt immediately better i brushed my teeth my hair ever went to bed all right and that wraps up our gems party yeah it was a good time i had a great time i did too now i'll say we got up the next day and went to leave and they were having a pool party yeah it's a little sad we came down to the pool party um and it was very like it felt almost family oriented yeah there was no no kids there was no families there was all adults it's like grown-up family people had all brought their own like pop-up tents people had brought uh food it was very like what it's ours is yours like a family barbecue everybody was friends with you know i just it felt but not family like friends that fuck and here's some barbecue at the same time but you know i'm saying like but you've been to like that family barbecue pool party right like that's what this felt like yeah uh and i love that i love that you could tell that gems that group is a community they are a true community of people that they all care about each other they all like it's not just the event hosts that are that you know are owners that are putting into the party everybody that comes like brings a piece and i mean they were cooking food and they i mean they had drinks they had coolers they had mimosa bar yeah i mean they had no bloody mary they had things planned out throughout throughout the whole day and night and weekend and you know people helping get things set up and i just i like to see that and i think you know when we talk about the lifestyle we talk about these events and stuff like that that's what i want people to understand like if you get into one of these groups and you become a community member at a place like like gems or you know and vibe and lsc and all these are very very similar and that's kind of the thing i think you get out of those local events as opposed to the national events because like a bliss cruise most people on the ship have no idea who they are you might be there with a couple of your friends but you don't know the majority of people these groups are like a tight-knit community and i think that i like i love seeing that yeah uh so anyway that's a side note but uh we were down at the pool we got to meet the owners a little bit and talk to him and then kind of hug and say goodbye and then go on our way yeah all right anything else you want to say about gems no that was great all right so we're gonna for the second half of this podcast we're gonna flip the script a little bit uh we've got some last really this week last few days we've had some kind of life-shattering things happen and we don't really we're gonna talk about it because i think we have to talk about it because i don't i don't think we can hide it and i don't think we're the kind of people that would want to hide it i think you know with our followers that follow us on Give it a try and let me know what you think all right guys welcome back welcome back uh thanks for listening to our sponsors we love our sponsors all right so we gotta have a little bit of an uncomfortable conversation um it's pretty heavy pretty heavy i apologize because that's normally not what our podcast is about yeah um but the last few days for us have been in you know this you're not going to hear this for another week or so but uh it's been pretty trying and honestly at this time right now we don't have a lot of answers but you want to kind of talk about what where we are and what's going on in your life lacy yes so um today is wednesday on tuesday my mom who works for swinger society who is um you know obviously a very important person in my life uh they she woke up with shortness of breath and pain in her lungs and she went to the emergency room where they found a mass in her lung and nodules pretty much all over her lungs, I guess.
So, that happened yesterday. Very quickly, we found out it was cancer. It was just kind of like a matter of what type of cancer we've done. She's done a lot of scans over the last 24 hours, including an MRI of her brain. And we don't have those results back yet. So, when this comes out, we will know exactly what kind of cancer she has.
We will know a treatment plan, if there is one one we'll know if it's in her brain um we'll know a lot more um the which is devastating in itself um and they said they've already said stage four i don't know if i said that sorry this is kind of it's hard yeah um but. But on top of that, my parents are an age gap couple, if we want to use swinger terms. So my dad is 15 years-ish older than my mom. So my dad is in his late 70s. My dad is very advanced kidney disease. He's on dialysis.
He has has the risks of the liver just from the damage that you know his kidneys have done to his whole body he is severely diabetic and my mom is his primary caretaker so now so basically in the last 24 hours I found out that my mom has stage 4 cancer and now I am the primary caregiver of not only her but my father and so we have just kind of been scrambling the last 24 hours it's probably more than that now it's probably been like 30 40 hours um trying to figure out what the hell do we do we have an event next week I'm supposed to leave in seven days to go be out of town for four or five days and my dad needs 24 7 care um and we don't know what this looks like truth be told we i don't know if i i don't know if i'll be there next week so you'll be hearing this on thursday which would be the next day i don't i don't know what the next few months are going to look like yeah and i think you know we've talked a little bit about this this is also fresh and we don't have answers and and you know hopefully by the time this podcast episodes air airs we'll have a little bit more really taking it day to day but it's looking like we're going to become the primary caregivers for your mom and your dad um they might end up living with us well like i've ordered a hospital bed like there my dad is now coming um to us because i can't care for him while he's in like a house by himself he can't be by himself but we don't really like we're not set up for a patient so that's kind of what we've been working on um like today I I know nothing about diabetes I know other than like common knowledge I don't you know I've had to learn what medication he takes and when where things are what doctor's appointments he needs to go to what he hasn't been to.
So. Yeah. what medication he takes and when, where things are, what doctor's appointments he needs to go to, what he hasn't been to. So it's just kind of like, on top of all of that, I still have my mom to think about. And I like, I feel like I've barely been able to like, even process that because I've been thinking about my dad.
And so, and the reason we talked, Dan and I had, I've several conversations um about if we were going to talk about this or not and how you know and of course we talked to my mom and how she feels about us sharing it and we decided to talk about it because this is real life and the podcast yes it's about swinging. It's about our real life, you know. And I don't know what the next six months are going to look like. There might be times that I can make it.
There might be times that I can't make it. I just, I don't know. We just don't know. And so we just want to set proper expectations as far as, like, if I'll be there, if I won't be there. I don't want anybody to be disappointed.
They're like, oh, well, Lacey advertised that she's here in the last minute she's not here um i am like i do have a brother and a sister that are my dad's um they're my dad's children from a previous marriage they're older than me neither one of them are here to help so it's i'm it's me i'm my mom's only living child i did have a sister pass away of cancer 12 years ago um she has the way of liver cancer so i'm my only my mom's only living child so it's a lot it's a lot i did better than i thought you did real good i know now i feel like it's okay but i do think so the only really reason we bring this up to bring it up to you now because we don't know answers um one we wanted to pre-record this because we know you know the next couple weeks are going to be a little hectic for us but we also i think the important thing for you guys is um the events are going to go on they're going to happen the good news is we have an amazing team around us um that can pull these events off and run them even if me and lacy aren't there um more than likely i'll probably be there yeah at least yeah um to make sure um the party goes on yeah um and lacy will be there when she can and is able but i think we've always been family first We'll be right back.
sure um the party goes on um and lacy will be there when she can and is able but i think we've always been family first right we put you put your son before all of this um we're definitely going to put your mom and dad before all of this um but it doesn't change anything right so the parties are still happening all the people are going to be there all the amazing uh connections and events and parties uh will continue um we're going to continue posting you're going to you're going to get kind of a firsthand uh sight into our lives on this i think we're going to try to tell the story as best we can yeah and like we get you know one of the common questions we get is will you always swing will you always see in the live so i will always be a non-monogamous person i might like now not be able to because obviously i have things that take priority right now but i will always be a non-monogamous person and my lifestyle friends are some of or these are my best friends they are and i don't i just i don't know i don't know yeah i don't know that's all i that's all i can say is i don't know no but uh i i'll say if i've realized anything is that you have a lot of support right yeah we have i'm amazed the messages we get um about all the stuff that we post and all the things that we talk about um and so i guess we could use your support right now right part of that yeah it's a lot i mean we've only been married for four years and now we're about to have to you know we have a teenager we're about to have to move out of our bedroom because our only master bedroom is on the only bedroom on the first floor yeah the only bedroom on the first floor is our master bedroom so now we're about to like move into our guest room so we can put hospital beds and it's just it's it's really heavy it's a lot i personally feel very overwhelmed um i don't know i just i'm kind of at a loss for like words as to what to say and what to do i'm just you just keep telling me that we don't have to figure it out in one day and i'll just keep saying that like over and over to myself it's just like one day at a time so no and i think yeah the the point of us even talking about this is we're not going to be able to hide it from you guys we don't want to hide it from you guys um you know if lacy doesn't show up at an event i don't want we don't want there to be rumors about yeah well me and her are broken up or you know like i think so i think the best thing that we can be through all this is honest honest and authentic yeah and so that's what we're going be that's what we're gonna do yeah um we're not 100 sure what that's gonna look like um but we'll be here we'll continue to post we'll be continue to do the podcast we'll continue to update you guys it might be some more stuff about our life than really about swing your parties and things like that but uh what does we've actually never missed an episode we've been i don't we're coming i think we're three years october three years august 27th would be our three-year anniversary when we started the podcast we said we would try to do one a month no two a month every other week and then dan got wild hair and was like let's just try for one every And we've never missed one.
And we've kind of like prided ourselves on that. It is currently 11.05 p.m. And this podcast comes out or the podcast comes out at 5 a.m. We just recorded it. It doesn't matter how late. We got to stay up. We all we've always got it out.
And so like we really want that to happen um i just i don't know we we might just have to pull out old stories i don't i don't know we just the the truth is we don't know but we are going to figure it out and um i'm not going to be like telling y'all like i'm not i've never been one of those like dan always wants me to vlog he's like i'm at the grocery store i'm here i'm just not very good at that maybe it's because i'm millennial and i don't know how to work that shit but um i'm not gonna do that but i will definitely keep people updated and will know but i just i just wanted to know i just wanted people to know so if you see me not on my best day you know what's going on if you don't see me there um my plate is full yeah yeah uh well i appreciate that and i think i think this could be good i think you know the interesting thing that's kind of happened with tiktok and instagram and the podcast that i didn't even plan on what i didn't really think about is it's it's almost like a diary of your life right it's almost it's it's a notebook it's it's uh yeah you know we have the last three years of our life captured to look back on um and i think it's funny that some of the things we've talked about and some of the people that have reached out and said oh that thing you talked about touched me in this way or you know when you guys did this you know that really resonated with me you know even when you went through your surgery and you you know we posted and you talked about that and some of your you know the emotions and mental health you went through uh with that connected with a lot of people that in you know that's not really our plot you know this isn't surgery tiktok or surgery uh podcasts but you never know what stories are going to connect with people and in what way so we're just going to continue to tell our story um here and on all the platforms and um we really appreciate you guys listening we appreciate your support um and we we couldn't do all this we wouldn't be here without you guys yeah thank you honestly because of this podcast i'm able to not work a nine to five i've been able to like be by her bedside the last few days and i'm very very grateful so thank you yeah i can't imagine god i can't imagine-five jobs, how, you know.
