What is veto power in non-monogamy?
Veto power is a pre-agreed rule in some open relationships and polyamorous setups that gives one partner — usually the primary — the right to end the other's outside relationship. It is polarising in ENM communities: defenders see it as a safety mechanism that protects the primary relationship; critics argue it weaponizes couple privilege at the secondary partner's expense. Many experienced lifestyle and polyamorous communities recommend against formal vetoes, on the grounds that healthy primaries do not need them.
