What is primal play?
Primal play is a form of BDSM that emphasizes raw, instinctual energy over scripted protocols — chasing, biting, growling, wrestling, and pinning each other in animalistic role-play. Unlike traditional D/s, primal play tends to be less choreographed and more responsive to in-the-moment impulses. Pre-negotiated limits and a clear safe word (or non-verbal pause signal) are essential because the in-scene language is less verbal than in typical BDSM scenes. Distinct from pet play, which uses defined animal personas; primal play is about instinct rather than persona.
