Who Viewed Me Feature PREVIEW

<p><strong>Update 6.9.16</strong></p>

<p>Dear Members,</p>

<p>We&rsquo;ve been working on an update to address the issue with the profiles being periodically <strong>removed from the Who Viewed Me list</strong>.</p>

<p>The update has been applied and we believe it should resolve this issue for most members.</p>

<p>If you were affected (your Views list was previously automatically reset) and currently have the Who Viewed Me feature enabled, the following should happen:</p>

<p><strong>- Previous views which were removed from your list should be restored (this data is being backed up during the Preview period in case of accidental deletion).</strong></p>

<p><strong>- Views should no longer be automatically reset / removed throughout the day.</strong></p>

<p>Please post here if you continue to experience this or any other issues with the Who Viewed Me feature - CustomerService and TechSupport will not be able to provide assistance during this Preview.</p>

<p>We'd like to thank everyone for your overwhelmingly positive and constructive feedback.</p>

<p>Below are some of the most frequently asked questions along with answers.</p>

<p><strong>--- Support ---</strong></p>

<p><strong>If your <em>Who Viewed Me</em> setting appears to turn off automatically / when you log in</strong>, please let us know which device (phone or computer) as well as which browser and operating system you are using. Also, do you experience the same issue when using a different browser? Please post these and other relevant information here. In order to provide assistance, we need to know the configuration where the issue is being experienced.</p>

<p><strong>IMPORTANT:</strong> If using Internet Explorer, please ensure that the browser is set to load a new copy of each page every time it's visited.</p>

<p>a. In IE, go to the Tools menu > Internet Options > Settings Button > Select "Every time I visit the webpage" then click OK. This setting should be enabled before enabling or disabling Views in IE.</p>

<p>b. Microsoft Edge browser should not be used to Enable or Disable Views at this time.</p>

<p><strong>--- FAQ and Answers ---</strong></p>

<p>1. Does the Flyover (hovering over a profile) count as a View?<br />
Answer: No</p>

<p>2. If I Disable Views, will other members still see that I viewed their profiles in the past?<br />
Answer: Yes. Your profile is not deleted from other member's Views list if you disable the Views feature. However, new visits to profiles are not recorded / displayed while the Who Viewed Me feature is disabled.</p>

<p>3. How can I Opt out / Disable Views?<br />
Answer: Views can be Disabled and Re-Enabled by clicking the Settings (Gear) icon at the top right of the Who Viewed Me section.</p>

<p>4. How can I increase my profile Views?<br />
Answer: The <a href="https://www.swinglifestyle.com/forums/Successful_Swinging/Better_Profiles/forumid_1118/viewforum.cfm" target="_blank">Better Profiles forum</a> has a wealth of great ideas from other members on how to improve profiles to make them (and you) more interesting to members. Check it out.</p>

<p>5. If I view a profile 100 times during a 7 day period, how many times will my profile be listed on their Views list?<br />
Answer: 1. Repeated views from the same profile over a 7 day period will show only the original view on the list.</p>

<p>6. What's the default order for profiles listed?<br />
Answer: On the Home and View More pages, profiles are listed in the order (most recent views with profile pics first). The View More page will also include an option to sort / view profiles by the most recent whether or not the profile has a picture as well as by distance when it's completed.</p>

Zak, those are some very constructive ideas! I like it. Especially the show up at a meet and greet and see who friended you function. Now i'm going to check out your profile, mostly because we are within 100 miles of each other...

<p>Our engineers are working on the reported issues including the one which results in past Views being erased for some members. This issue is expected to be addressed in the next update for this feature.</p>

Don't care for it, and for us, causes us to not look at profiles we might normally take a look at just out of curiosity. We liked the counter, and a normal day was several looks at the profile, since this was implemented there has only been 2 views in over a week. I think most are now much more cautious to click and look. My vote is to dump it, and as soon as possible.

I would like to see a date viewed as well on each. We have no idea when we were viewed...

I don't know about others but I'm having trouble when I try to Log in It often takes several tries and when it doesn't work, I get Error [#irongate.Errorid#] message Hope it gets fixed soon.

We have noticed a pretty high number of people (not of our area) of Who Viewed Me but it is probably from going into the chat rooms...your chatting with people all over the country and like what we do it all the time is check out the profile of who we are chatting with.
What would be a cool feature is to see who made you a friend.
There are a LOT of things that could make this site A LOT better and it wouldn't even be about the computer it would be about setting up some simple rules. For example when we review new profile request and if there is not enough information we will not let it through. What also could be put into action is for EVERY PROFILER that is SERIOUS about becoming a member MUST show up to a Meet & Greet and get a face to face profile review. And for those who say they can not make a Meet & Greet then how are they going to make a date. It would be the best way to rule out the fakes and prove that a couple REALLY is a couple. There would be a LOT less wasted time and a LOT of happier results.

I may be banned for agreeing with you as I was banned from forums for some time when I spoke the truth in an unflattering way !!! I read your post now because i doubt if it will be here long lol I was glad to see the who viewed me for about a day then it quit working completely on Fri I'm hoping they can fix it soon and perhaps get the rest of the site back to "normal " at the same time but i won't be holding my breath lol

I think the frustration for most of us that have been around awhile (I started my first SLS profile in 2006) is instead of fixing glitches that exist (email issues, picture editing, consistent functionality on weekends) they try to add "improvements" that cause more glitches. I mean, was there really a need for SLS radio and does anyone even use it?

The "who viewed me" is just another example of them ignoring the myriad issues of the site and just adding some feature on whim without beta testing it or even understanding how it would function.

Scroll through just about any thread in the Website forum and you will see these same complaints. Except where they deleted them because unless you rave about the site (or latest update), your posts will get deleted and you may even get banned from the site.True story!

The good news is, I/we have met MANY great friends because of SLS and we thank them for that. We just wish they would hire someone who knew how to code and properly run a website that worked.

We assume the feature was added to help you find potential matches, however, we have not found it useful at all in that respect. On the first day we enabled the option it showed 200 and some profiles had viewed us but of those 200 and some, less than 10 were even regionally close (Delmarva). Most were more than 300 miles away. I get that some people may be looking for potential people to meet while on vacation but I doubt that many are considering coming to our area for vacation. It seems the feature is a great thing for those just looking for pics to "enjoy" but we are not ones to just look at random pics. If we look at your profile it is because you are in the area we are in or will be in and something about the pic combined with the flyover profile info shows us there is a possibility of a good match (age range, interests (watch, soft play, full, etc.) or because we have received an email indicating their interest in us. We don't care if people are looking at our public profile pics so that is not an issue but we just don't see the value of the feature for people seriously looking to meet which brings me to our other problem with the feature. Like most on here we get enough emails to muddle through without adding ones from those we saw something in the flyover that made them worth opening their profile but upon doing so decided they are not of interest to us but now they know we looked - so are we now inviting them to email us and us now having to respond to more emails from people that we are not interested in? Not sure as we turned the feature off and have left it off and that works for us - no harm, no foul. Not sure if there is a solution to actually make it a useful tool for finding potential matches. Just our two cents...

njny, Someone told me to "use the note feature" once before and it worked like a charm, then got all cluttery and took a lot of time to locate profiles notes we had stuck to the side of the fridge. Thank you for showing us a more efficient way of how the note feature is implemented with a built in button! :-)

I like this option, I feel it should have been added a while ago. And if people have a problem with the feature, it can easily be disabled. The one issue I have is that I have people viewing my profile but I can't view theirs because "I'm a single guy".

We cannot open our galleries on the right side in this new SMALLER profile viewing frame.

Nice Feature, but..... like other posters it resets every time we logon, and we notice free members viewing our profile even though we hide/block free members.

yes, just today the hits we got on "who viewed me" have been disappearing...does that happen if they disable that feature on their profile?

Why have all my "who viewed me" dissapeared I had a ton two days Go now they are all gone. Does it reset daily?

We are using this with Chrome an an older xp computer and it resets all the time

This seems like a nice feature but it keeps resetting and looses the profile that viewed us.

Wow, haven't been on the site in a week. What is the problem? I click on a profile and it's is a small box in the screen? Don't want to see the background if I'm looking at a profile. Used to be able to open a profile, click a pic and blow it up full screen, where did that go? Can't blow up profile either?
Thinking it was better when clicking a profile showed everything on 1 screen, like certs etc. , as for the who is viewing us, it is OK, maybe it can show when it occurred?

It would be very helpful to have a "you viewed" banner as well; better if it's on the pop-up. Often people change their profile pix and it's difficult to tell if we have danced to this song before. Also , we agree with others who have asked for a wink/flirt option; often, simply because we've perved your profile, or you've perved ours, does not translate into interest. Our two cents, as it were.

Every time I log into the site, the list of who's viewed us disappears and starts all over.

I already changed the settings in internet explorer to keep the feature enabled at all times (thank you for that tip).

If I don't have time to send a message to someone or to view all the profiles, we are not able to review them later. Is there a way to correct this? Thank you so much for any help on this. :)

Would be Nice IF it WORKED how ever it keeps resetting, one minute someone viewed us then No new views LOL think it needs Some Work

Like any tool, there are pros and cons. For us it keeps resetting every day. Look forward to a smoother running tool soon.

I've got to agree with you on this one Melbnz. I have the feature turned off, but in fairness, I also have the "New Matches" and "Random Matches" banners removed from our home screen too.

I don't have a single thing against any of the little banner things, but I just don't believe that they do much of anything in terms of finding much of anything. But I could certainly be wrong. In any case, I can also see your point wherein the who's viewed me thing could be amusing or fun.

@NJNY: Keep up the good fight lady, I have seen at least one event in this thread (some time back) where the "site folks" were doing some followup with you. That does not appear to be happening on any large scale, so many of us are depending on you to carry that torch for us...SERIPUSLY! ;/

NJ, yeah, I wasn't really saying it's bad if people are upset or anything, just that it doesn't bother me, that's all. Some people do get really bent out of shape, not you or Rabbit, but some do, and that's fine too. I like interactions with a lot of people, so at the very least, it's given me something to discuss on a message board for a bit. That is value to me ;) haha I guess it's been too long in between parties for us, i'm reduced to cruising profiles of people who viewed us....
