Rejecting content without understanding it

After several trips to the hospital to be resuscitated, my wife has convinced me to (in her words) stop holding my breath regarding Charlize Theron.

Any updates on the Charlize Theron situation yet?

Agree with the suggestion of LS volunteers lending a helping hand (probably the wrong group to use that analogy, but there it is.) And Charlize Theron, we're in if and when.

Good grief, Wayne. You have got to stop babysitting grownups and let people hoist themselves on their own petards.

I read too deep. I thought 127.0.0.1 as loopback and you were staying around your home. I then broke 255.255.255.0 to /24 and was thinking What's 24 got to do with clothing? The nerd in me took over.

Anyone who is surprised by the results of the review process as currently designed probably shouldn't be allowed outside without adult supervision. You've apparently got folks with no LS experience (as an example, Wayne and his wife appear to have only recently dipped their toes in the water, but he's been a face here for quite some time), they don't take the time to Google things they don't understand (.51 sec get a search result on DINK and .47 on 127.0.0.1, and it's an easy cut/paste to search), and on top of that anyone who peruses Hot Date listings and/or profiles can see they miss a lot.

To an outside observer it would appear they're overworked, based on our experience with SLS they're likely underpaid, and judging by the results they probably don't have enough training on what they're supposed to be doing. No surprise the output is less than stellar imo.

They really should put a cadre of experienced LS volunteers to take the weight off the folks tasked with reviewing such things, just like they do with photos. The turn-around time would go down, the quality would improve, and the bitching would diminish substantially.

I would also like Charlize Theron to show up on my doorstep ready to play wearing a big bow and nothing else. My money is on seeing her before we see a change like I suggested.

Once had a headline declined because it was considered a hot date posting. It read: Join two kinky DINKs in sexual hijinks.

Not sure why something general and flirty like that was considered a specific inducement.

At one time our profile was taken offline due to "violations" with NO EXPLANATION.

I asked for explanation and was told that there was none and our profile was made visible again.

I think it was because we told people NOT to contact us on KIK as we did not use it and some idiot thought that we were telling people to contact us there. Now this was before the implementation of the current messaging system which we can not use unless we reduce resolution of screen.

"I give you a ticket because I know that somewhere down the road............"

That's like a police officer citing you for speeding 55 in a 45 because he presumed you would be speeding later. If it isn't an infraction at that time, it cannot be cited based on presumptions.

Thanks Catchy & Mayhem - all I did was add 1 club & had 2 already listed, haha. Making sure I'm not crazy (or crazier than I originally thought). :D

Sexaholixxx- Perhaps Wayne can comment. It's likely the references to the clubs, but it wasn't like you were saying you went to any of them on specific days/dates. That would violate their Hot Date rule, but the club reference as written would be what I'd expect under the Experience section of your profile, so not otherwise sure what the problem was.

@Sexaholixx: I don't see anything wrong with that text. Obviously at some point after the initial rejection it was okay because it's in your profile now.

Don't lose a lot of sleep over it. We've had some super-confusing experiences like that, as have others we know IRL. The advice we've gotten is to try it again in a few days and odds are it will go through, perhaps because a different set of eyes and interpretations of the rules had a chance to look at it.

I'm wondering if the REAL people doing the reviewing can chip in on why this was denied:

"We enjoy meeting new friends at the local clubs (regulars at TJ's, PGC, & TPA). We are into kissing, intimacy, eye contact, and full swap. We are both bi but same sex play will only be initiated if all parties are comfortable"

Not only was it denied, here is the message we got in return: "Your profile has been placed OFFLINE for VIOLATIONS OF OUR TERMS OF USE policy. This may include but is not limited to having multiple free profiles, rude behavior, etc.
Please contact CustomerService for further information.
Terms of Service:"

So what is being said is that we might as well remove all references to bi male contact since that also offends some people.

No Wayne, it’s more like the car had a Biden bumper sticker and you are a trumper so you are going to ticket them because you like to impose your beliefs and bias on others.

Rejecting content because you think it might offend someone else is ridiculous but not inconsistent with how you moderate the fora.

"they are going to see that and get upset that someone is trying to hack them."

That's pretty much the most ridiculous reason I've heard so far for disapproving content. Who's doing the review, Phil Hartman's Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer from SNL? I can hear him now: "Your modern ways confuse and frighten me!".

MoeKathy - BTW, kudos to you for being that creative. While many/most wouldn't have gotten it, the ones that did would have gotten a real kick out of it and probably would have at least pinged you ;-)

I'm not an IT person, snd I would never in a million years read that tag line on a swinger profile and think I'm being hacked. Maybe I wouldn't get the inside joke/reference, but we read lots of profiles with stuff we don't get........

The term Web 2.0 is just jargon. But what it represents has been done by this site since it was founded in 2002. This site has real people reviewing everything that is reviewed. That is by design. That is the way the owner wants it. AI can't do it as well as people. I got the IP joke, but I don't think something like that should be posted because there are lots of people who do not understand enough about IPs to get it and they are going to see that and get upset that someone is trying to hack them.

MoeKathy - Not as witty, but looks like your stuck with something like "Safe geeks seek other safe geeks" ;-)

This site hasn’t even welcomed Web 2.0 yet. Saying it may be machine learning/AI would be like putting a new LT2 engine into a 76 Stingray.

They might be a little overly sensitive to web site terminology given how archaic this site is......
