It’s definitely needed. Right now, they are basically forcing people to do what they don’t want them doing, which is move to offsite communication ASAP so as to not miss messages. Most people aren’t going to constantly babysit their device hitting refresh to try and keep up with message notifications. Hopefully with the forthcoming coming updates we get more improvements and added functionality.
I like the idea. That is actually one of the reasons we have been hesitant to use the hot date feature.

Every single one of them has message notifications. Yes, international not subject to US rules. Still, surely there is some consent or waiver that one might click to comply.
Exactly Sorillo, a simple push notification saying you have a message from “John smith” would suffice.
Used to be a feature here, many years ago. It got nuked even before the whole FOSTA fiasco, although I think it got folded into the FOSTA changes. As I recall, management was claiming that it would enable contact outside of SLS, where members are supposed to be protected.
Still, it would be nice to have again. Doesn't even need to show the message, just "you have a message, log in to read it". No way to get in contact outside of SLS if the message text isn't forwarded as well.
I think if there’s one feature that’s absolutely needed it’s real time message notifications. It’s a royal pain when out and about, say with a hot date only to have to randomly log in to check messages or miss a contact completely because you didn’t get the message until the next day. Hopefully we can see this in a forthcoming update.
