At least half of our messages these days are either friend requests or private pic requests from people we haven't heard of. Pointless.
Most of the rest are just a few words.

Good idea. We don"t want anyone attempting contact without reading our profile first.

Great idea. Put the button at the very end of the profile narrative. At least they would have to scroll down. In fact have the Gallery Page link at the bottom of the profile. If you read it then you can perv pictures.
We get friend requests from people we don't know. Most of them are picture browsers hoping to capitalize early on the friend feature by getting access to private photos which they anticipate SLS will implement shortly. We reject 100% of these requests.
As for putting the request on the photo, yes, bad place to put it, and it enables lazy people to be even lazier!
Why would i want to.be friends with a profile that is not in my search or preference criteria???
