Thanks Wayne. It's been a while since I did anything with galleries and didn't realize I could change the order, so I just made the newest pics appear first.
Generic message questions

You do have to upload the picture and have it approved before you can share it with someone else. That is based on one of the core philosophies of this company that we make some attempt to moderate and filter the data to protect the members.

There currently is no sort order to the pictures (at least for the default public and private galleries). Sorting them by newest is probably a good idea though.

You have full control over the order of pictures in your custom galleries. You can arrange them however you like.

Is there some reason that one cannot attach a current picture from a laptop to a message? It would be nice to be able attach one if someone asks, but I saw no way to do that. As far as I can tell, I'd have to upload one to SLS, which then has to go through an approval process.
While this has more to do with Galleries, is there some reason that galleries don't automatically sort pictures from newest first to oldest? This would seem to make the most sense. Especially since they now show the dates that pictures were posted on. The newest pictures would be the most relevant.
The same thing has happened occasionally when I am viewing something other than messages and after I already checked and read any messages I had.
I didn't think that I was in messaging at all, but perhaps I clicked on something without realizing it. Wouldn't be the first time.

Did you view someone's profile and use the "MESSAGE" button? That would also trigger the check for unread messages.

We have not made any updates to that yet.

I may be mistaken, but I thought I saw a new message indicator after being logged in and without having to click on the Messages button. Was new message polling re-enabled?
@Wayne - we checked and yes it was there from years ago. The profile itself had not logged in for 291 days so not a new message by any means.
Thanks Wayne - that would be so helpful. Getting notification of messages as we move around the site is so much better than just upon log in or when on the messages page. I try to remember to check messages before logging out but sometimes forget.

I will check on that. We plan on turning it back on at some point to see how the site performs.

The unread message will be there. Sometimes it may be several pages deep.

Right now, at this very moment, we have a mystery birdie flying over our messages saying there's one in our inbox. But we've gone thru the top 10 messages and looked elsewhere and can't find any unopened message. Go figure.
Clarification; Is this ever going to get fixed "properly", meaning polling will be re-enabled?
A while back, the site was unstable on the weekends and I believe this had to do with traffic load combined with real time polling load. As what I thought would be a temp fix, message polling was disabled. In other words, if you're logged in, the system will never go back and check to see and notify you if you have new messages. You either have to click on the Messages link or log out and back in.
Is this ever going to get fixed?
