Censor members opinions

Bullhead City, AZ, Us

We will not be renewing our membership. Aside from the fact that the site never works half of the time, the SLS staff randomly censors people, allows cock and pussy photos to be posted by members who pay to go to the SLS events while banning the other members for doing so, they terminate profiles (paid and lifetime) when a member complains to the staff about there site problems and their hypocrisy when it comes to how they enforce their rules and how the rules are not enforced evenly and fairly. We were members on here years ago, ran into all these problems back then as did many of our friends (who are now ex-members of SLS) and have seen all of these things happen first hand. Well, nothing has changed, same hypocrisy, malfunctioning site, and censorship, and big bully attitude. When our profile runs out..... that will be our final good bye. True other sites have just as many flakes as SLS, but they do not treat their members like this and they do not censor their members either.

I have not been here in weeks. I am playing elsewhere. I came back to see the traffic and it appears low. Are others leaving too?

It is indeed censorship. That said they own the website it is their property. That means they can do whatever they want with it. BTW this includes anything and everything we post here anywhere on this site. We (every member) agreed to that when we signed up including accepting they have the right to change the TOS, features, and even limit or remove our access. While we do pay for it we are also guests and as such must follow the rules. TBH if you don't like it there is the door. Now none of this means we have to like the changes and honestly we would prefer they have kept the email feature but constant posting about it is not going to change anything. Them locking the topics is basically a way of saying what is done is done and it is time to move on to other topics. BTW from my old days as a board moderator (elsewhere) I will say that it is more than just a friendly way of saying it because usually those that don't get it usually face other more direct methods of censorship. On the board I moderated you had the option of highlighting new posts by certain members (so they could be read for content), making every top post from someone having to be approved, making every post (top or comment) having to be approved, and then of course there was the outright ban.

Of course it is censorship. THEY DO NOT CARE! I responded by deleting my couples profile. We will no longer pay to be here. Had I not paid for this account several years ago, this would be gone too. The ownership of this site can't accept the criticism. They never could and never will, and I will be amazed if this post isn't removed inside an hour. Last time I was critical they deleted the post and locked me out for a couple days.

What amazes me is we have already met multiple people on a free board that is gaining popularity fast. It isn't ideal, but you can at least communicate in detail and make an informed decision.

SLS is on borrowed time. They aren't getting another nickel from the Lifetimes, so I guess they feel we no longer matter. Sadly, the intermittent payers are also leaving.

Remember one thing SLS ---- If you don't take care of your customers, then someone else will.

It's also a sign that sadly, that ship has sailed & they have no desire to re-instate the e-mail.

It’s definitely censorship when the only reason for the lock is that SLS doesn’t like the message.

they will simply remove Forums all together

I hope not. I kind of like helping people construct awesome profiles. The added attention from people who obsess over me is kind of nice too.

Honestly I just like the latter.

Yes it is censorship. But as the site owners, they have the absolute right to censor anything they want on the site (within the TOS, of course). We may not like it, but it's a private enterprise, not a government agency. 1st Amendment doesn't apply.

Having said that, it's a really bad idea business-wise and customer-service-wise to get overzealous with the Thread Lock History Eraser Button. And it's short-sighted to make changes to the TOS without putting up an approval screen for members to opt in. Look at it this way, how often do you get emails from Yahoo or Google where they make you approve of privacy policy changes as a condition of using their services? They do that to protect themselves, and I'm actually surprised that SLS doesn't do the same thing.

Well I see that most of the "Forums" related to SLS removing the ability to email now are "TOPIC: Bring_back_the_mail TOPIC LOCKED" SMH next they will simply remove Forums all together. Bad enough we cant even submit a support ticket when we have an issue. My current issue being I can NO longer change my location on my profile nor on the Hot Date calendar which I was able to do because I travel and like to find events when I travel!

SLS admins have never taken criticism well. They actually changed the TOS to state that they will suspend you for excessive criticism. Of course, "excessive" is a pretty subjective term.

One would think that if a business saw that 99% of its customers were unhappy with a policy or change of its product, they would reconsider their position. Not SLS, they just delete the non-flattering comments and lock the threads that articulate the complaints.

I hope this post isn't viewed as excessive criticism, I am merely making an observation.

Is locking out a post a form of censorship ?
