Archived Mail unread notification - but there is nothing there?

Hi all,
This workaround was effective for me:
I opened notifications for groups I had joined, and the invisible Archived Mail item went away.

Yes, this bug is showing up for me. Support frankly admits they don’t understand why, and I admire their honesty. Their best guess is that I joined a group, and a notification mail from that group was sent — but meanwhile I had turned off notifications for that group. Hence the message is in limbo.

The OCD in me wants the red ‘1’ and flying bird to go away. Opening Archived Messages shows a message exists (‘sorting 1 of 1 message’) but does not show the actual message.

I tried turning on notifications for groups I have joined but that did not help.

Support suggests quitting, then rejoining all groups as a possible way to clear it out. Has anyone found a workaround to clear out this orphan message?

Having the same issue, says there are two archived emails but nothing is there,

Well support says its a bug and we just have to live with it but I dont think they understand what is going on, they keep saying something about the old email system but this is that spot where all the invitations to parties and system notifications end up. Now I am wondering if somebody that is blocked is sending us something, and we are seeing the notifications even if we cant see what is being sent?

Time to decide if its worth opening up that gaping maw of hell to see if thats the case - not sure if its worth it or not :/

Anyone else notice something like this? Yesterday there was a notification that there are 2 unread archived mails. Opened up, saw only one and read it. Ever since the notification is still there - along with that godawful annoying bird (WTF is that all about?) and no matter how many times I log in and out its still there...
