Right now, the site keeps 1 year of messages. Messages older than that are auto-deleted. That is for performace reasons.

Add the ability to archive old messages
"The problem with notes is you might forget, you might not leave ENOUGH of a note to remind you what you meant, and I don't think you can see your notes without actually viewing the profile."
Just as an FYI, notes are seen in the Search and Who's On features.
Honestly we have asked as thats why we liked old email.. so I would say NO under the new system...probably took up too much server room.
Wayne what do you say?
So right now with chats, you've got two options:
- Keep all your chats, forever and ever
- Delete chats that didn't get a response or petered out without going anywhere...
The problem is the only way to keep track of "did we message this person / couple and what happened?" is to either remember to type in notes, or save the chat. The problem with notes is you might forget, you might not leave ENOUGH of a note to remind you what you meant, and I don't think you can see your notes without actually viewing the profile. Option 2 of saving the chats in your list offends my "keep it tidy" sensibilities (yes, I'm one of those "try for zero inbox" maniacs.)
Having the ability to "archive" chats would be handy, you could keep those old chats to refer back to ("Oh, yeah, this couple admitted their photos are 20yrs old") to remind you.
Or, is this one of those things that just won't be possible with the current messaging system?
