We get a fair bit of online activity, but even if we were to take a 6-8 week break, I don't think iit would warrant a profile change to say we're on break.

Under normal circumstances, there are not that many people reaching out to us online that taking a month or so off would matter. If someone did reach out, many times (for us) it's newbies and many of them just want to meet and talk first. So even if taking 6-8 weeks off of playing for say, medical reasons, it wouldn't be that big a deal for online activity or even meeting newbies in person.

Between our schedule and someone elses, it can sometimes take a month just to get a date that we're both free anyway. Plus, I suspect some of our activity of people reaching out is because I am online just about daily. If taking a break, I may not. We were just away for nearly 2 weeks on vacation and I didn't even log in during most of that and there was nobody that reached out to us in that time. When we got back and I got back online however, there was a flurry of activity, but that was likely coincidence.

Not playing or temporarily not playing...... It might be more believable and scientific to just say you will be on an extended vacation for a few months. Say you will keep your profile active and communicate for possible future get togethers. This way you are not saying you are inactive. Do not know if this will work for you but might be a thought. Oh, I agree! I'm up for renewal again in a few days and told hubby we've already spent more than $150 I've the last two years, so we might as well just do it. If we want a break, we can do that, too.
We live in a small town, so have limited options. I've tried Kasidie and 3some, but they were, uhm, well not as well-put-together as SLS. It's not perfect, but it's been pretty good!

Agreed we also joined lifetime. It is a great deal if you intend to stay in the lifestyle. NO site will be 100% to our liking. We have tried others but this is the best one so far.

Young2Ginger - Not sure how long you've been in the LS but you potentially have a lot of years left, so the lifetime membership (Still $150) may be a bargain. That's what we did over 6 years ago and glad we did, in spite of the site changes/complaints.

There have been times when we weren't playing--generally due to scheduling and obligations--but still interested in getting to know people so we'd have a choice when we were back online. Kind of like window shopping. Planning ahead. Anyway, we ended up not needing to go to a free profile and I think only were for about 3 days. Maybe Hubby will just bite the bullet and buy us a lifetime membership so I can quit worrying about it!
We have recently been able to message with free members, which I didn't expect to be able to do, so we'll see how long that lasts.

I put a note in our profile saying that we are now on the sidelines.

I did that despite Wayne’s comments about putting profiles in forced timeout if they say they are not active.

But then, I don’t like bullies, and also don’t really give a fuck.

However, I did find a post from Wayne in September that suggested you could: "...put, "Not meeting new people" or "Not playing right now" in your profile."

But since that's a refinement that most people won't know about, anyone who has had or has heard about others who have had their profile taken offline for saying they were taking a break from playing isn't going to take chances.

Any. Look around and you'll find Wayne saying some variant of 'well if you're not going to play, you don't need an active profile' as the reason for taking profiles off line. It's less universal than it used to be, but it hasn't stopped.

"SLS will - if they notice - put your account in time out if your tagline includes any information about not playing, ..."

Hmmm, didn't know that. Would that just apply to free members or any members?

"This saves us all the trouble of looking at, reading completely, and posting a huge note of interest. "

Posting a huge note of interest is something you have control over, as is the rest. So your complaint basically boils down to feeling put upon that you make an effort that is not rewarded because people are being safe and not telling you about it ahead of time.

SLS will - if they notice - put your account in time out if your tagline includes any information about not playing, which will not serve people who would like their account to remain active for their own reasons (they chat, they have ongoing message conversations, whatever). Since none of us are here for you anyway (we're here for our own reasons), I doubt you'll find many people who will be concerned about your complaints. If it wasn't the pandemic, you'd be complaining about people not answering you. Or some other reason for not getting the responses you want.

On-line searching is a low percentage activity. The reasons might change depending on real world situations, but if you get a ten percent response rate, including "no thank you (for whatever reason)," you're doing well. Deal or don't, but it is what it is and the only part of this that has any hope of changing is you.

If people are absolutely not playing with anyone due to Covid, it seems reasonable to use their tag line or start their profile with that. Of course, that mostly only helps others and not them, and quite honestly, some just don't care.

Not only being viewed by free members but also people that " are not playing." They claim no kind of meeting until the scare is over. WELL THEN they should post on top of their profile," they are not playing at this time". This saves us all the trouble of looking at, reading completely, and posting a huge note of interest. I have posted this in other places. Does anyone else have an opinion on this???

@pantiething. Interesting reply however I am not on this site to make another member comfortable or to reassure them. I am not a peep show. Free members! Begone! Happy Tuesday

For the past few weeks we’ve been inundated with profile views from free members and some paid members but all profiles had no pictures except the default Gumby. We immediately block those.

Pantiething. You go girl! I agree with your last sentence 1,000 per cent. I do believe it would increase the treasury of SLS if they provided something to work for and believe in. Just my opinion.

pantiething - It used to be that way years ago, but with a limit of 5 emails/day for free members. A lot has changed since then. Many would just assume there be no free members at all on SLS, but I do get where you're coming from as we got to actually use the site in a limited fashion before making that decision.

I can say that it's not a scam, but whether the cost would be worth it to you (especially as a single male) is another matter.

Seymour, TN, Us

Well it would be safe to say that as many paid members that are on SLS it certainly isn't some sort of scam that is going to run up your CC charges. Want to see paid members? Become one.

when i found this site I joined as a free member, obviously reluctant to pay money and provide my credit card info to a site i have no knowledge of. i assume many 1st time visitors are leery and want to be careful about giving out that kind of info. i think paid members should be allowed to receive messages from free members and be able to respond to them. that way a free member can see it is real and really works. thank you

It’s a good sign for those of us that are “anti-app”...if it were a success, they wouldn’t have to promote it so aggressively.

Yup, that makes sense, and all the non-paying temporary members send messages to the beautiful large breasted woman. Sounds like typical free member behavior.
Sorry that you have to deal with it.

Customer service answered my question; may be due to a promotion that is running for app users. Some app users are getting a promotional membership. They will show as free, but have paid level access. Customer Service - Wayne

I blocked my profile to free members the day I joined SLS two years ago.

For the entire month of January I've been being viewed by free members I notified customer support and they told me to tell them if it happened again yet it continues to happen seven times so far has anybody else had this problem?
