Recently we've come across many that talk about how new they are, how they're looking to learn etc. Yet, the profile is 5 years old and has 30 certs saying otherwise.
Outdated profiles
We're with you 911 on that. "No animals" and similar declarations are implicit and Sydney University can do whatever the fuck they want.
Keeping your profile relevant means keeping it current. Tweaks to your "about you" stuff are needed. Pictures need to be rotated and updated, if pics are too old or not representative of you today, you're setting yourselves up for failure. We saw some photos today timestamped right in the photo from 2010...9 years...seriously?!? Weights and ages need to be updated on this site, it's not automated.
Yeah, we are one of those couples y’all are complaining about. We are bad about updating. I hardly ever look at our own profile, so I’ll forget to update the ages. I still can’t figure out why ages don’t update automatically like they do on 90% of all the other web sites.
We’ve got a bunch of old pictures posted as well. Those old pics tell a story about how we party, and what kind of things we like. We do have some pics that are less than 6 months old, and upon initial contact we always send our most current pics. I also like to send a selfie of ourselves walking out the door when we are on the way to a cocktail/coffee meetNgreet; that helps folks pick us out of a crowded bar or club scene.
It's why we started hosting meet and greets. Takes the guess work out of it.
AandJinNNJ is absolutely right when they mention getting out. We always have much better luck finding playmates by meeting face to face and talking. Most profiles on here are cookie cutters, they’re all basically the same. They don’t actually tell you anything. Even when they are up to date. So we cut out the email step and just find people at meet and greets or house parties, etc.
I'll admit, I'm rather lax about updating photos. I need some new ones because I'm now wearing glasses. Not to mention, ones where I'm dressed better. But even with me being somewhat lax, I do time stamp the photos, so that folks can make an informed judgement.
You'll find it's a mix.
We keep our profile up today including pics that are all within the last year or two.
But we've encountered others who aren't as diligent. That's where you're vetting process comes in. Ask those questions.
Also, getting out and meeting folks at parties, clubs and meet and greets avoids the problem completely. Face to face you know exactly what you're getting.
I update our ages on our birthday - and updated our location when we closed on our new home. But we're retired and I sit down with my laptop and cup of tea first thing in the morning while Phoebert cooks breakfast.
Obviously we don't have much in the way of pictures but I do send a disclaimer indicating the age of our photos when I open them for someone.
We are finding so many profiles that are obviously outdated... For instance, one talked about going to Hedo3 (which closed 10 years ago) and Desire Cancun in 2008.
That might be a bit extreme, but we did chat with a couple whose were 8 years older than their profile stated...
Do most people update their profile age? Or should we just automatically assume the age listed is the age at the time of joining?
