Ideas About Starting Up Again

As far as risk of personal exposure it is, in my view , not if but when. personally I would rather wait until the treatments are less experimental.

We will restrain ourselves at least until winter before getting social or playing again . It will take some restraint but we too have immunosuppressed and at risk individuals in our group of friends, our masks and restricted contacts are to protect them, not us.
As far as the masks go , I am very sure that all but the very best do absolutely nothing to protect the wearer' They probably help protect others if one is infected and does nor realize it.

We agree not playing for a while after this pandemic. We go out for food and our mountain property but that is the extent of it. Northwest New Mexico is the worst Gallup is closed till Thursday. School sports will not be in session till January 2021.

To answer the question, when things have opened up for other than economic reasons.

Does anyone here seriously think that things are opening up for other than economic reasons? Maybe it's just me, but I don't. As things open up in some states across the US in the next 2 - 3 weeks it will be telling either way, and we've already waited this long. I'm thinking this next 2 -3 weeks might actually be the worst time to start playing again IF you have any concerns at all about getting this and/or giving it to others.

The antibody test being widely available will help, but you need to understand what it's telling you. Think about it, if you take the test and it shows no antibodies, you don't know if you have it and just haven't developed the antibodies or any symptoms yet.

If you DO have the antibodies, it means you've had it, but I'm not sure that means you aren't contagious still. I'd think the ideal may be to see antibodies then wait a couple weeks and perhaps test again.

Like others, I'm not concerned for me and would be a little more concerned about the Mrs, having smoked a number of years. I'm also more concerned due to some of the people we have to interact with. Among them are 3 very young grand sons that are all immunocompromised.

This thread is moving dangerously close to the political section of the forums and this will be my last comment on it. Call it fear, call it abundant concern- if YOU are worried then YOU should stay home. It's smart for YOU.

We've read the CDC data ourselves and have decided the people who are building high-projected death models either have no clue what they are doing or are up to some shady shit.

If you aren't concerned, we'll see you out there.

Can’t say that I see any fear in the previous replies. Everyone’s situation is different. We’re not very concerned about contracting CV-19 ourselves but we both have friends and relatives that might die if they get it. An abundance or over abundance of caution and/or consideration for others is not fear in our book.

Mark my words, when clubs open up, and someone tries to do a hotel takeover, it will be PACKED. This forum is not, and never has been, representative of swingers. The sheeplike fear you read here will not be visible when things open up.

Only two weeks ago did PA start requiring masks. Given we've been out in public so much ( several dozen times ) without masks and that I was around a sick co-worker who just traveled back from India in mid-January, I'm pretty sure we've been exposed and developed the anti-bodies; like most people.

Ready to jump back in to the deep end of the pool.

Ok. What has to happen for you to be convinced it’s “over?”

I would say when there aren't many/any cases of covid19 in my area

Honestly it is more the restrictions and how the wife's work schedule has changed due to this (they split into 2 shifts each taking either the first or second 1/2 the week and splitting Wed in a morning and afternoon shift. It has been an adjustment that looks like it will extend for a while. Since my wife works the second 1/2 of the week we have lost weekends for playtime. For us even if the local group had a party we could not attend and the folks we play with all have weekends off. That said we don't think we would consider playing until the restrictions are lifted or at least loosened a lot more anyway. Right now (in our state) there is still a ban on groups of 3 or more unless you all live in the same house so that kind of brings up all sorts of issues trying to have a three or more some. Of course no one is really following it but occasionally law enforcement has fined people and I believe have made a couple arrests. Yeah until that is over we are not even considering getting together with anyone because it is not worth that risk. Of course once we no longer have to worry about that we feel the risk would be not much different than say if it were flu season.

As soon as we can get tested for antibodies we will. But even if we do, what exactly does that mean? No one knows if having antibodies means lifelong immunity, a few years, 6 months...

There's still so much that's unknown.

Think people will wade back in slowly once restrictions are lifted. Don't see ourselves going to a club, meet & greet or hotel takeover. Don't think a lifestyle cruise would be a good idea for a very long time. Think it will be couple to couple playdates & maybe a small house party with a few couples where everyone already knows each other. Once there are enough antibody tests readily available would help too.

For us it won't happen until there have been 0 cases in an area for an extended time frame and there is a viable treatment that absolutely works. As frequent travelers we have no desire to be a vector nor to get sick ourselves. Not only do we consider family and friends we may bring the virus to but also anyone that we may meet in any context.

It's NEVER zero risk, but I wouldn't even consider playing again until this mess is over.

With all this virus stuff going on we’re struggling a bit with how to decide when to start playing again. We’d like to make an objective decision while recognizing there won’t be zero risk.

Any ideas?

Thanks!
