Black rings

We have an SLS logo t-shirt that we hang on the back of one of our chairs when we go to Gunnison Beach. Makes it easier for fellow lifestyle couples to strike up a conversation since not everyone at a nude beach are in the lifestyle.

That is definitely pointless....your at a M&G, SLS or swingers event just look around of coarse you don't need a code or ring. The whole ring or wristband concept is when you are out in the vanilla world to have a little slick & subtle way of showing that you are a swinger with out shouting it out..... If we spotted a couple with a ring or wristband we would be a lot more inspired to start up a conversation with them.

We just had somebody in our area drop us the Bird, and they asked us for a meet and greet and said we will recognize them by their black rings. And I replied back back with a BIG DUHHH and said isn't that what a profile is for???? Come on people get over it already. LOL

IMO. you'd be better off to get yourself a t-shirt from one of the big online t-shirt shops. you can actually just type "swinger t-shirts" into your favorite search engine and find several. even the t-shirts that sls offers don't guarantee recognition. I've worn the sls logo shirt in crowds of thousands before and never had a single person even acknowledge it. I think you literally just need one that says "SWINGER" if you really want to be known among crowds.

SLS should just step in and sell a ring or wristband, it wouldn't matter what color all it has to do is come from the merchandising page and people will automatically associate who ever wears it is a swinger.

And therein lies the rub...

No one can agree on anything.

I have no problem identifying myself as a swinger, my wife is nervous of the gossipers and wants to keep it a little more hush hush but we both would gladly wear a ring or a wristband that would catch the eye of a fellow swinger while we are out at the local bar or mall.
Those that want to be noticed wear them if you are to shy or worried...don't, but it would be very cool if there was a ring or wristband agreed on that swingers or at least SLS members could recognize.

In the kink and fetish lifestyle, wearing a red bracelet on your left wrist means you're into anal fisting! :)

I have only heard about the ankle bracelet worn on the left ankle signifying hot/shared wife

I agree with everything you said. It is a subculture. With every subculture there are those that chose to be publicly identified and those that do not.

Angie does not have such t-shirt but I am sure she would happily wear one if she did. Her co-workers and family are aware of our lifestyle so for her, no big deal. But that is her choice.

Frankly, I think the ring thing is a complete waste of time. Seems like a way to make something simple, complicated.

the subject comes up quite often here in the forums and I always say the same thing. there will never be a universally accepted "sign" of any kind because for every 10 people who would love to have a way to identify other swingers, there are 1000 who cringe at the very thought of being identified. While non-monogamous relationships may be on the rise these days, they are far from becoming mainstream. This is still a hobby that most cannot talk about or admit involvement in, for fear that family and friends will find out and no one wants to deal with that drama.

kate has a couple of t-shirts that identify us as swingers, but she can only wear them to swinger parties and other LS activities and events. she wore one to bike week last year and then just about had a heart attack when we spotted someone she knew from work. fortunately we saw them before they saw us and she was able to duck into a shop until they passed.

LOL, I wondered if Anthony Bourdain was bi or gay because he wore a thumb ring. Then I started reading Kitchen Confidential! I did some black ring research and found someone saying it was a trend they were trying to start. They wanted to be able to identify available swingers and approach them.

Sounds way too DaVinci Code for me. If being on a swinger site and going to swinger events and talking to people isn't enough I give up.

Now where is my darn Illuminati signet ring... keep misplacing that thing.

LOL. i'll be honest, it might explain a few weird things that have happened over the past few years.

lol, shesmooth, are you suddenly unsure? well, at least you aren't asexual like us.

I've been wearing a thumb ring for years and i'm not bi. or... at least I didn't think I was. :/

Never heard of this black ring thing. My wife and I have two sets of wedding bands. One is a dark charcoal in color. Does that mean we have been going to parties advertising we are asexual, lol. If so, we have really confused some people!

Wailuku, HI

Black ring means you're asexual.

i have never seen anyone wearing a black ring

That is amusing since for a long time a black ring on the middle finger of the right hand has been associated with being asexual. So personally I wouldn't approach someone based on a black ring on the right hand.

We were watching Swing on Playboy Channel Saturday night and one of the swingers commented on this very subject...She stated that Swingers wear Black ring on right hand and Bi on the thumb.....

I've been posting way too long. So when black rings comes up yet again I just roll my eyes.

yep I posted in one of the roughly 9000 threads about black rings that it was a symbol of asexuality and is the most common thing to come up on google or wiki.

Oh this is just too delicious ....I needed to call the police this morning for a "non emergency" issue. When the adorable, physically fit officer came to my door I of course invited him in. We shook hands, introduced ourselves and low and behold he had the most prominent black ring on. I said that it was a nice ring, did it have any significance (well why not)? He said no it just went with the uniform....did it ever. I said, really, umm, you might want to look that up.

Here's the GOOD part, I wondered what he would find if he did indeed google "wearing black ring"..... OMG the majority of articles are related to...... wait .....wait for it

Shows you are asexual (of all things)..... really. I truly did laugh out loud. Oh trust me I am never, ever wearing a black ring bahahaha

Lol, Wanna-try--- re: the pineapple thing-- I've heard that one too. In fact some newbies have sometimes asked at parties if residents in a small affluent neighborhood are all swingers because of the "pineapple" emblem on their gates being turned a certain way. I just laugh and say, not likely but ya never know...
