@VA .. re: "I also find it an offensive concept that one is OK with policies designed to target certain groups, so long as that group is a politically acceptable one to target."

That particular group you're referencing has been "targeted" by the GOP since Reagan with tax cuts to increase the wealth disparity, giving those targeted far more benefits than those not targeted. Those taxes cuts at one time would have been used to create "living wage" jobs benefiting far more people than your possible spending of $50,000 could. But instead all that they have been used for over the past 40 years was to increase the portfolios of those who received the tax cuts to begin with. Buying stocks that raise money through the removal of jobs in America and sending them overseas, increasing their personal wealth at the expense of their fellow countrymen's wellbeing. That group has been "targeted" with the intention to garner votes for the GOP at the detriment to the rest of the country, so please refrain from the pity party because the GOP has found it politically acceptable to target you.

“ I've said what I want to say on that topic, which has been so badly beaten to death over the years that it's just not very interesting to me anymore. I rarely wander into these political fora anymore and I don't expect I'll be here long.”

Well you’re the one who wandered in. If you don’t find it interesting? Why did you post about it? I’m not trying to give you a hard time. If you start a conversation. Expand on it. Who knows you may change someone’s mind?

What was so great about the end of 2019? I would love to hear your perspective on things.

"Stop listening to the fake news." - What sources of information should we be using?

"Better Trump than Biden." - Can you tell us why he's better?

Not directed personally at you, more at the idiots who don't look past the end of their nose...

No one likes paying taxes, but it is the price we pay to live in a first world country,

Money is fungible. The dollars one pays in taxes don't get thrown into the fireplace and burned up. They get used to fund all kinds of things, some of which have a greater multiplier effect on the economy than individual spending.

"What specifically does Biden want to change that will hurt the AVERAGE American taxpayer?"

I have selfish and un-selfish responses for you.

Selfish: 4 years of Biden getting everything he proposes would personally cost me about $200,000.

The un-selfish response: perhaps you think me having $50,000 a year less to spend and invest doesn't impact the average American taxpayer who depends on said spending and investment for their livelihood

I also find it an offensive concept that one is OK with policies designed to target certain groups, so long as that group is a politically acceptable one to target. And while the reasons and effects for such policies are complex and saying its "designed to target" specific types of people is overly simplistic, make no mistake - when it comes to the marketing in this election and appealing to the raw id of your average voter, that's precisely what it is.

I've said what I want to say on that topic, which has been so badly beaten to death over the years that it's just not very interesting to me anymore. I rarely wander into these political fora anymore and I don't expect I'll be here long.

“ Stop listening to the fake news. Better Trump than Biden.”

Stop listening to the fake news. Better Trump than Biden. In my humble opinion.

There I cleaned that up for you.

@VA, “ This might actually be what ends up happening, sort of. If Biden wins but gets a congress with mixed control, he'll not likely be able to implement the changes he wants to make.”

What specifically does Biden want to change that will hurt the AVERAGE American taxpayer?

And what was so great at the end of 2019? Besides an inflated stock market.

Oh as for anyone who says that their guy is a shoo-in...

How many more elections do you need to witness to learn that there's no such thing as a sure thing?

“ Trumps winning”

What exactly is he winning?

Windermere, FL, Us

I can't stand the idea of Trump being president for another 4 years.

My accountant can't stand the idea of Biden's tax proposals becoming a reality.

What I'd really settle for is for Trump to no longer be president and for everything else to go back to how it was in late 2019. Not that everything was hunky dory, but it was a largely liveable situation.

This might actually be what ends up happening, sort of. If Biden wins but gets a congress with mixed control, he'll not likely be able to implement the changes he wants to make.

"100% agree with 2much, if you think Trump is bad now, he will be the absolute worst nightmare for the Dems/libs. He doesn't give many fucks now, he will be completely off the rails in his 2nd term. He will be absolutely drive the left crazy. I can't wait to see it. Imagine how bad it will be in his 3rd term.."

Trump is not intelligent. He's a pathological liar and not mentally stable.
That's a clear and present danger.

You're comfortable with a president that doesn't believe in science and medicine?
Are you OK with this Admin's handling of the epidemic? America leads the world in deaths.

You have no problem with those around him being convicted for crimes that are directly
related to his campaign and time in office?

What is with your obsession with "driving the left crazy"? Nobody can make anyone "crazy".
Do you understand that ALL Americans have to live with this madman's craziness?

Are you enjoying the political divide, racism and violence in this country?
Dems, Repubs, other party voters, and non-voters have to live together in this country.
Chaos and lack of leadership is not good for any of the people.

Do you understand the Constitution and the Amendments?
Are you aware that we'll never have a third-term president again?

BAD THOUGHTS! Trump wins loses House or Senate. If Dems win one, the shit starts all over again. GOOD THOUGHTS! Trump wins, Reps. win House and Senate. Let the parties begin. Indictments all over. SWAMP LIZARDS beg to make deals. OWEBABA is first former President to be arrested, guilty and prison, ET AL. Pelosi chocks on her false teeth. Schumer gets a spine straitening operation to correct his crooked back.

Why is it that you think your neighbors are the enemy just because they have different political views?

It seems to be something you take great pride in.
