THE WALL

A mexican friend who I have known since 05 sent me this this morning.

That was probably done a long time ago because of some of the references in it, but it is friggin funny.

@EA... Zombies would prefer to be in the south instead of California. Why? This is the land of skinny in shape people, not like the South.

DUDE! Have you looked at your profile pic lately? No I'm not talking about Mrs. E.

And also. I am totally just bustin your balls. Lol

You assume too much. You assume that preparedness isn't a way of life for lots of people down here. You assume my "people" and I haven't already had conversations about this, when COVID hit & we thought there might be something to it. You assume too much.

Santa Barbara, CA, Us

@Marion

"You keep assuming that i don't have "people". As for you "working" with your fellow urbanites... hope isn't a plan.

I could lock the gate right now, with no infrastructure at all (assume power, water, gas, 911, cell service) at all & be perfectly fine for 6 months.

In that situation though, I have people. Many people that are of the same mentality. We have the acreage, the supplies & skills to last a long time."

First the short response.

Living in fear is one hell of a way to use your time on the planet.

Now the breakdown.

Hopefully, you realize that all you are arguing is the point in time in which we die. See, you say I am using hope, so are you. You are hoping that YOUR friends didn't die, or if they are alive, PREPPED like you did. I sincerely doubt that you go and check their underground bunkers to see if they are rotating out expired food. So if some cataclysmic event occurs where the zombies show up, well, hell, I may live longer than you. All I have to do is outrun you :) And to be 100% snarky . . . Zombies would prefer to be in the south instead of California. Why? This is the land of skinny in shape people, not like the South.

And to be 100% sarcastic . . .

Dude, you couldn't make it 72 hours. Why? You wouldn't have SLS to use as a means to banter :)

And 10 days is about when shit hits the actual fan based on hurricane sandy a few years ago. My dad ended up in a fight with a guy at a gas station, it was crazy. People were pretty cool the first week and slowly it got ugly. Any longer than it was and I have no doubt, there would be khaos. Not to mention people have lost more of their minds since that time. People are already on edge it seems.

Hamilton, AL, Us

@EA: your funny... 10 whole days , I'm impressed. That's with the remaining infrastructure in place, to some degree I'm sure.

You keep assuming that i don't have "people". As for you "working" with your fellow urbanites... hope isn't a plan.

"@EA: total loss of infrastructure & emergency services, with no expectation of anything becoming "semi normal" for 6 weeks. This could be from a natural disaster or bad actors, doesn't matter. No power, water, fuel, 911 services, cell service. Also, don't expect FEMA anytime soon."

Well, let's see . . .

I live in a URBAN area. Chances are we would work together and that would not be an issue. I have had that scenario somewhat come close. I had no power for over 10 days when Andrew hit. Damn . . . that was in an URBAN area.

You rural mofo's would have to try and survive solo. Six weeks . . . I doubt you guys could survive without Cracker Barrell or Waffle House. Hell, do you have enough Dr. Pepper or Mountain Dew to survive that long? Whatcha gonna do if you can't get Skoal or Coppenhagen for six weeks?

"If I hadn't had that boating accident couple years back, I'd have thousands of rounds of ammo and guns."

You should have said something. I just gave away about 500 rounds.

"that's the type of shtf scenario I generally think of, 6-9 months of isolation. If one of my best friends can make it to my place (he's about 20 miles away), he and I will be fine. If he doesn't, I fear he's in trouble lol."

It's funny how weed makes some people paranoid.

We have had 40+ US Presidents....

Many, many different parties.

Why didn't they complete A/The Wall?

@Marion and @2out

Define a bad situation.

I am well aware that I have a fuck ton of limitations. This is not the highest one, but it is also a condition . . . I am not 20 anymore!

Hamilton, AL, Us

@2: lmao. I didn't say it, but I thought it. EA would last about 7 minutes in a bad situation. He's plenty intelligent, but he (you, I know you are reading this) lacks the humility to say he needs help from any lesser form of life (us).

Montpelier, OH, Us

No one can be self sufficient. Only people who have a huge ego think that they are responsible for everything and created everything. Pfft.

Well EA should be good for like a 100 years.

@Marion

"There is no crime in EA's world except gun violence. "
That is your wet dream fantasy.

I have never said that. I have never implied that.

We witnessed a 90 mph head on collision a few weeks ago. 2 passengers in each car . No tourniquets needed .

Hamilton, AL, Us

#1 cause of accidental death* , my thumb out ran my brain.

Hamilton, AL, Us

There is no crime in EA's world except gun violence. I have tourniquets strapped to both visors in all my vehicles. EA, would assume I "was afraid" of something. In reality it's to combat the #1 cause of death in the world. I'm playing the odds.

B&C is correct in their post. The court decision is nuanced to a point. Basically it relieved LE from being held liable for injury or damage incurred by the general public in their absence. If I was "responsible" for your safety, and you got hurt while I was busy doing something else, I'd be liable. That's why I tell people every day "you are your own first responder" it'll take time for "us" to get to where "you" are.

Remember .

Warren v. District of Columbia, 444 A.2d 1, D.C. Ct. of Ap. 1981)

The Supreme Court of the United States explained that it is a “fundamental principle of American law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any individual citizen.”
