Elon Musk!!
The Media
When news to you is local and it goes national it is interesting to watch how that grapevine effect happens and how it is blown out of proportion.
A situation that hits here, a place I often visit, has made the national news. It is Chick-Fil-A. A little backstory is required. Where I live it is relatively small in population, small in area, and relatively dense in population. I live where Earth Day was invented. I live where there are only 3 ways in/out of - one major highway, the 101 goes east/west and in the middle is another highway, 154 that splits the mountains to go north. This area HATES traffic, big box stores, changes to the environment like there is NO tomorrow. The 101 did not open until 1991! You had to end the freeway, drive on a 4 lane downtown road called State street. Then leave the area and the highway would resume.
This area HATES drive thrus. Seriously . . . hates them. In the city, there are 5 total. Two are McDonalds, two are Jack-in-the-box, one is Chick-Fil-A. Three of these are all on State Street and relatively close. JIB and Chick-fil-a are on the same side of the street, and there is a carwash and a pizza place that separates them (250') CFA took over an abandoned Burger King. Because that place was grandfathered in, they got the drive thru! Yup, more places have applied and have all been shot down.
Chick-fil-a was creating an issue. People going west on state would have to make a left into the parking lot. Well, State street is one of those places that has a shared middle lane for both directions. This created issues. The line to turn in was very long and people could not get across to leave CFA and head west again. People could not get to other businesses.
The city worked with CFA on the issue and they put in a cement divider stopping people from turning in from making a left. Now, the only way to get in is from the same side of CFA and making a right. Thus the problem began! Now instead of two ways to queue up to get in, there is only one way. This created a LOT of u-turns to get on that side of the street. Thus, people were now lining up on the street to get in. Thus an issue. The solution? CFA put in 2 lanes for the drive thru. That meant though that instead of their being 6 cars on the street turning in, now there were 3 or 4. The city worked with CFA again. The solution? CFA promotes the app usage, gives bonuses not in other places to get people to use the app to order and they put people OUTSIDE taking orders to move things through faster. On any given day, there are 10 people outside working to get orders thru faster.
Has this alleviated the problem? NOPE. The issue with the lines on the road meant that people just would leave and not order. Now that there are 2-3 cars on the street, people will wait.
The solution? The city council had to vote if CFA is a public nuisance. The neighbors, the pizza joint is losing business because people can't get into the parking lot. Jack in the box is pissed because people are skipping them and going to CFA.
That is the shit that is NOT reported in national media. That is part of the problem of national versus local media. The details are often grapevined and if they are not, they leave out details.
Chris was a loser , even at Fox . He fit in well at CNN.
Agree on Chris Wallace, never a hero at all
Chris Wallace is a piece of shit.

Chris Wallace was never a hero on Fox, keep drinking the kool aid
Chris Wallace..on Fox a hero....Chris Wallace leaves Fox..he is a dog..that about sum it up for the SLS forum stalkers?
Chris Wallace will become a weatherman in San Francisco TV .
Way too many streaming things now. I stopped all of our subs, even golf shit, it's just not worth it to me.
@Bonnie
"CNN announces CNN+ will be shut down at the end of the month . I guess Chris Wallace wasn’t the hit they thought he would be . At least he made it a month ."
Honestly, I think that was pre-ordained. The new owners of CNN didn't want it. It was a project that was started before the new owners took over and was down the rabbit hole pretty far. The new owners, Discovery, wanted to do something different with streaming. As soon as they took over, they stopped funding marketing for it.
I read that they are looking at moving more things into HBO Max and that this or parts of it will move into it. Honestly, I think that is smarter. People are getting tired of having so many different streaming services and cancelling things. The more you can get under one roof, the easier it is to control pricing and to keep subscribers.
I don't know about you, but we are reallllllly close to just cancelling Netflix. We have Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Spotify, Disney+ as the main subs. I just subbed to Sling for a month to watch NBA games. I had subbed to Peacock to watch the SuperBowl. There is SO much content out there. The amount of choices is bigger than a Greek Deli menu! It is overwhelming.
The weird irony . . .

We spent the whole 25 minutes just watching that! That content is free and, well, that was really relaxing!
Will Chris Wallace end up back at Fox? LOL. Not a snowballs chance in hell
I guess Democrats are closet watching FOX ….LOL
CNN announces CNN+ will be shut down at the end of the month . I guess Chris Wallace wasn’t the hit they thought he would be . At least he made it a month .
"...was talking about the Dems. I agree the sec does a good job"
Glad we agree on some things. ;-) (I have a fair number of people blocked, because my tolerance for certain things is too limited to waste on the stupid, but I don't always remember that.)
Pretty funny how many people's politics are just being against what the other side supports.
@ggmm, was talking about the Dems. I agree the sec does a good job
@FLIP
Perhaps they are a joke because the republicans never want to fund them or the IRS.
"theyre a joke at this point"
The SEC? They are actually a pretty effective body - the notion of, for instance, hedge funds without any curbs is fucking terrifying - but for the gazillionaires, the fines for deciding the rules are for others are truly just the cost of doing business.
theyre a joke at this point
Oh Lord , now the Democrats are blaming Texas governor Abbott for inflation . All because he is stopping trucks at the border . These people need run off .
@Flip , they have propped up the US for years with the Petro dollar .
"He'll make a couple hundred million and check his pocket lint for the spare change needed to pay his newest SEC fine."
Just the cost of doing business.
I think he's serious but who knows what he will do. No reason to panic yet
Let’s just say Musk is able to finance a deal and takes the bird private. (Personally I don’t think he has any intention of doing this) Would the company policy of “Free Speech” last forever? How long would he sustain lawsuits brought against his company, just to prove a point? I said it last week. 3 Billion to this guy is no big deal. When it’s 43 Billion, that is a lot of money. He’s may not be as willing to defend a stance with that kind of cash on the table.
Except that the Saudis are horrifically horrible people they are friends.
