I read that IFL article - which was from the before times, when Chinese spy balloons were a thing - and also a few more on the site.

There are too many science fictional aliens in my imagination for me to be optimistic enough to believe we'd be anything but a food source or a place that has to be interdicted to spare the rest of the universe from us, but I'd love to know that we aren't alone.
