Thanks for your correction of my mistake about the political position occupied by Haley.

It’s amusing to see Haley and Cruz and Hawley all make calculations about what position to take to compete and win the GOP nomination for the 2024 election.

Haley is trying to take the high ground in her call to forego impeachment in the name of “unity.” If she cares truly about unity she should have been calling out Trump more strongly for his politics of sowing ugly divisions that culminated in the horrific, scary travesty of the attack and invasion by a mob of the Capitol.

She has such a pretentious way of calling for a high ground while she has one foot and her conscience in the mud.

Cruz and Hawley shot themselves in the foot I suspect in any chance for the GOP nomination in their vote to object to electoral vote and active, showy support for Stop the Steal.

I hope in 2022 if Republicans gain majority of the house that they impeach Biden on day 1. For any reason they can think of. Eye for an eye

Do you think Joe Biden used his power against Ukraine when he was VP? Do you think Maxine Waters called for violence in her rant? Please explain your difference because they both perfectly mirror Trump's statements.

Why do I care about that Trump got impeached for what he did while President even though he was voted out of office and almost out the door when the impeachment began?

It’s simple. It can be reduced to one word: JUSTICE.

I care about justice.

Trump as president committed in my view and view of the majority of Senators a grave injustice—an injustice that got people including a policeman killed and was a travesty with the invasion of the Capitol.

Trump will go down in history as the only president to be impeached twice.

That deeply satisfies my sense of justice and and constitutional policies have been followed in impeaching Trump and will be followed in his trial.

I believe what Trump did justifies him being convicted on impeachment so he can never be President again. He has disqualified himself for that office in my opinion. Let’s see how the Senate votes on it

The trial alone satisfies my own sense of justice and it could be the largest vote by Senators from the President’s own party to vote for impeachment in the history of impeachment of a presidents

The impeachment is deeply just according to my heart and my reading of the law and how it’s been read by our Senators who voted in a majority to impeach, including votes to impeach by 7?Republican Senators.

Why did those 7 Republican Senators vote for Impeachment?

Trump has already been impeached. Impeachment is analogous to a grand jury returning an indictment.

Now is time for the trial.

That's why Roberts is not presiding. The Chief Justice only presides for the trial of a President. Trump is no longer President, but the Impeachment, just like an indictment, needs to be resolved.

The Constitution provides that the House has the “sole Power” to impeach an official, and that the Senate has the “sole Power to try all Impeachments.”

As the Supreme Court explained in Nixon v. United States (1993), “the commonsense meaning of the word ‘sole’ is that the Senate alone shall have authority to determine whether an individual should be acquitted or convicted.”

You can claim this is unconstitutional all you want but that's going to be a decision each Senator will have to make for themselves.

The Supreme Court isn't going to make the call. They will defer to what the Senate decides to do.
