8inch......you undoubtedly can't read. Evidence is in the Bible. The only source needed. Carry on though with your lengthy rants.
2nd impeachment
Tbrmskss......truth Is in the Bible. I have not and will not force that on you or anyone. But the fact is I say that I believe and you become triggered and rant about how it is fake. The Bible Is the only evidence I need to present.
"pat yourself on the back and show yourself out the door. You just wasted a lot of time."
We know reading and research is your kryptonite, so I did you the favor.
Your precious, sweet lil baby Jesus story is not original. I gave you a few examples. I bet you think David Koresh and Jim Jones were crazy. Their followers didn't.
I believe in objective reality. Objective reality as best as we can discern it.
That does not include anything supernatural, including god or the devil, angels, demons, ghosts, telekinesis, or anything of the sort.
That being said, there are many more things in the universe that we don't understand that things we do.
Evidence is the best measure of whether things are "true," as we can discern them.
Donald Trump did not win in a landslide. In fact, he lost the popular vote both times.
There was no widespread voter fraud. Sure, there are instances. But every instance that has been found was a Trump voter. There is no evidence of a Biden voter committing voter fraud.
As Sapp said, the ability of humans to see objective reality is limited. We all choose the facts we prefer. There may even be evidence for the facts we choose, but it is all in the interpretation based on our schemas.
Like EA, I don't care what you think, except when it effects me. So believe in any myth or truth you want. But don't ask me to buy into your truth, especially if you can't back it up with evidence.
Reality has a well known liberal bias...
It's completely useless to argue what is better liberal or conservative ideas. Each side is 100% set in stone and will never change. There is no coming together. The amount of time and effort some people put into politics is laughable. It's not gonna change, the politicians do what they want and nothing changes. Best bet is to forget it and live your best life imo.
Its definitely a myth. People confuse wealth priviledge with white privilege.
Darn. It looks like you guy ran out of gas before you solved the myth of White Privilege.
Sapp.....no one is running to communist countries to live and prosper. They run here for opportunity.
EA......I agree somewhat we aren't much different on things such as peace and prosperity for all. But the path to get there are very far off and doesn't seem like they will get any closer anytime soon.
EA......did I say California is all liberal? Nope. Is California mostly liberal? Yep. Does California have a more diverse population? Of course it does. Your location for one and your population is 10x higher than here. So yeah a lot more diverse population requires a much different approach than say Alabama. What we have here wouldn't work there and vice versa.
EA........I do fully agree that black churches are more passionate than white. I have attended some myself here. There are white churches that are very passionate as well but not as a hole like the black churches. Usually depends on the pastor and church board. When my father passed we had his service at the church he attended which is all white. The pastor we had to speak at the Service was black. I guy I went to school with and someone who knew my father as a person other than church. We did not want someone just speaking and giving the same old sermon repeated from the last 5 Services he did.
EA.....you just countered my opinion with your own. I don't force my religion on anyone. As I said I don't practice my religion as I should so I definitely don't present myself as being all holy. If you don't believe that is on you but no need to insult others who do. When I say many people choose private over public because of politics that is fact. It doesn't mean it's the majority it just means a good many do. Many times its kids you would definitely want to have in the public school. They really don't give a shit about a school board because most follow state and federal policies because well they have to. Especially in the poor counties where a tax base is not much help. Most poor counties here get their state money, they recieve federal money from the number of free/reduced lunch students, and rest is from local money. If your county has no tax base well you are fucked and scrap buy off pretty much just state and fed money. The ones whose kids attend these schools who can many times choose private. That is fact here.
8inch......pat yourself on the back and show yourself out the door. You just wasted a lot of time.
ps JC555,
The largest undergraduate major in colleges right now by far is the Business major. The lowest number of majors: History.
What's up with all that ideology that Business professors bring into the classroom, just teaching about Capitalism and leaving out teaching of Marxism and Socialism, or just teaching that man is a competitive creature of self-interest (as Adam Smith pointed out in "Wealth of Nations"), but forgetting to argue that man is also creature of compassion and capable of benevolence and caring and sacrificing for others (as Adam Smith argued in his "Theory of Moral Sentiments").
You want to see ideology in practice in the college classroom, don't focus just on what goes on in History and Literature classes, but look at Business courses and how their professors "indoctrinate" their students with Capitalist or NeoLiberal economics and bring a too uncritical perspective on how business operate and how they "bribe" politicians.
JC555,
Try to be objective:
Give me a list of all the wars in American history. Many teachers will forget to include and emphasize wars against Native Americans that began in the 17th century and continued until 1893 and were fought in every state of the USA. Some will argue that the war against Native Americans is still continuing by others means.
One teacher might say Thomas Paine's Common Sense in January 1776 helped incite a revolution. Another teacher (maybe in England) will say Thomas Paine incited a riot or rebellion against the King. Who is right? What is the objective truth? There is no single objective truth.
There are better and worse ways to teach American history, but no teaching of it leaves out politics or ideology completely. I don't recommend Home Schooling in most cases either.
I don't believe in God, but I do believe in the effort to care for the poor and sick and love thy neighbor and practice kindness to strangers and the value of forgiveness and compassion, and in my interpretation I associate that with the values of Jesus (and the values other spiritualities besides Christianity. I also love the Jewish holiday Yom Kippur for how it calls upon us to recognize our failure to follow the covenant or and the highest principles of Judaism and to make apologies and amends for such violations or injustices in the past. I'm sure there are better ways to describe it.
JC555,
Alas I don't have time to respond more fully, Thanks for your own long answer.
Quickly: I'm very concerned and critical about how and why the Democratic Party lost so much of the white blue collar vote (and rural vote). I have my theories about it drawn much upon what others have written about it. I like how Michael Moore criticizes the Democratic party for how and why it has lost so much of that vote. The Democratic party needs to do something better about winning more of it back, and I have some theories too about how it could do so, which also draw upon what various progressive members of the Democratic party have argued or advised. I was affected by reading John Tester's book on being a Democrat trying to win votes in Montana, and he's been successful doing it.
I must also respond way too quickly about your complaint about teachers bringing politics into the classroom when teaching American history and other subject. My argument: there is no objective teaching of history. The teaching and writing of history has always been and will always be subjective. Some teachers make it more subjective and some make it less, but trust me, there is no way to teach history in an apolitical way. You can show me what you take to me the most objective writing or textbook about history, and I will quickly expose to you why it is subjective and political, even if it tries to hide its politics.
Do you think Supreme Court Justices are objective interpreting the Constitution? It's impossible. Of course they bring subjectivity and ideology and politics to their interpretation of the Constitution. The same is true in the interpretation of the words and acts of American history. What do you call what happened on October 12, 1492. If you call it a "discovery" of America, you are only seeing the event from a Euro-centric point of view. What do you call what began on July 4, 1776 or in 1861. If you call July 4th a Revolution and not a Rebellion you are not seeing it from the point of view of Loyalists to the King and King George III. If you call the Civil War the Civil War and say its began a Southern defense of slavery and white supremacy, you are seeing it from a Northern point of view. If you call it the War of Northern Aggression and say it was fought as an opposition to tariffs imposed by the North and on behalf of States Rights, then you are a Confederate sympathizer. A good teacher would try to teach both points of view, but a good teacher would also cite the words of the Declarations of Secession as evidence to confirm that the States rebelled in their own words to defend slavery and white supremacy. Neo-Confederates would say stop bringing politics into the classroom over that. But it can't be avoided, however neutral the teacher tries to be.
Dozens of Saviors stories.
But continue enjoying your Jesus fairie tales.
Born of a virgin, Isis. Only begotten son of the God Osiris. Birth heralded by the star Sirius, the morning star. Ancient Egyptians paraded a manger and child representing Horus through the streets at the time of the winter solstice (about DEC-21).
In reality, he had no birth date; he was not a human. Death threat during infancy: Herut tried to have Horus murdered. Handling the threat: The God That tells Horus’ mother “Come, thou goddess Isis, hide thyself with thy child.” An angel tells Jesus’ father to: “Arise and take the young child and his mother and flee into Egypt.”
Break in life history: No data between ages of 12 & 30. Age at baptism: 30. Subsequent fate of the baptiser: Beheaded. Walked on water, cast out demons, healed the sick, restored sight to the blind. Was crucifed, descended into Hell; resurrected after three days.
Attis was born on December 25 of the Virgin Nana. He was considered the savior who was slain for the salvation of mankind. His body as bread was eaten by his worshippers. He was both the Divine Son and the Father.
On “Black Friday,” he was crucified on a tree, from which his holy blood ran down to redeem the earth. He descended into the underworld. After three days, Attis was resurrected.
Zoroaster was born of a virgin and “immaculate conception by a ray of divine reason.” He was baptized in a river. In his youth he astounded wise men with his wisdom. He was tempted in the wilderness by the devil. He began his ministry at age 30.
Zoroaster baptized with water, fire and “holy wind.” He cast out demons and restored the sight to a blind man. He taught about heaven and hell, and revealed mysteries, including resurrection, judgment, salvation and the apocalypse. He had a sacred cup or grail. He was slain. His religion had a eucharist. He was the “Word made flesh.”
Zoroaster’s followers expected a “second coming” in the virgin-born Saoshynt or Savior, who is to come in 2341 AD and begin his ministry at age 30, ushering in a golden age.
In the middle of the 100s AD, out along the south coast of the Black Sea, Glycon was the son of the God Apollo, who: came to Earth through a miraculous birth, was the Earthly manifestation of divinity, came to earth in fulfillment of divine prophecy, gave his chief believer the power of prophecy, gave believers the power to speak in tongues, performed miracles, healed the sick, and raised the dead.
Heracles is the Son of a god (Zeus). It is recorded that Zeus is both the father and great-great- great grandfather of Heracles, just as Jesus is essentially his own grandpa, being both “The root and offspring of David” (Revelation 22:16) as he is part of the triune God which is the father of Adam and eventually of Jesus. Both are doubly related to the Supreme God.
Diodorus writes that,”For as regards the magnitude of the deeds which he accomplished it is generally agreed that Heracles has been handed down as one who surpassed all men of whom memory from the beginning of time has brought down an account; consequently it is a difficult attainment to report each one of his deeds in a worthy manner and to present a record which shall be on a level with labours so great, the magnitude of which won for him the prize of immortality.
”Jesus is also said to have done a very large number of good works. John 21:25 says that: “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.
”Hera tries to kill Heracles as an infant by sending two serpents after him, yet Heracles survives by strangling them. This parallels Herod’s slaughter of the innocents in an attempt to kill Jesus (Matthew 2:13-16).Heracles makes a descent into Hades and returns from it with Theseus and Peirithoüs, just as Jesus descends into the “lower parts of the earth” or Hades (Ephesians 4:7-8); Though Jesus does not bring anyone up from it.
Heracles’ body is not found and he is assumed to have been taken by the gods:”After this, when the companions of Iolaüs came to gather up the bones of Heracles and found not a single bone anywhere, they assumed that, in accordance with the words of the oracle, he had passed from among men into the company of the gods.”
Dionysus was born of a virgin on December 25 and, as the Holy Child, was placed in a manger. He was a traveling teacher who performed miracles. He “rode in a triumphal procession on an ass.” He was a sacred king killed and eaten in an eucharistic ritual for fecundity and purification. Dionysus rose from the dead on March 25.
He was the God of the Vine, and turned water into wine. He was called “King of Kings” and “God of Gods.” He was considered the “Only Begotten Son,” Savior,” “Redeemer,” “Sin Bearer,” Anointed One,” and the “Alpha and Omega.” He was identified with the Ram or Lamb. His sacrificial title of “Dendrites” or “Young Man of the Tree” intimates he was hung on a tree or crucified.
@JC part 2
“I do despise people who talk down to people who believe though. Things such as the Bible being a fairy tale book or calling God a sky daddy are very ignorant and narrow minded.”
Really? Because they think logically they are ignorant and narrow minded. There is a group of people that believe in facts and not fiction. Despising them is (a) not very Christian like (b) just plain hypocritical.
“If you don't believe, why worry if someone else does.”
I don’t care. I only care when they try to impose their beliefs on me. When they do the Hobby Lobby bullshit I care. Until then, I don’t give a fuck if you believe we descended from a spaghetti monster.
“Maybe Democrats as a hole should look at why they have lost the blue collar middle class.”
That is probably the wrong way to look at it, but I understand why you’d think that way. The democrats have owned the urban and lost the rural. The blue collar middle class that are urban, vote D. Think autoworkers in Detroit.
The issue is very complex and deep. At the end of the day, it is about self-preservation. The Ds didn’t do enough for that group to feel that they were looking out for them. The issue though is that it is something that both parties do. It is all about capitalism. Capitalism, under the guise of freetrade, you know the republican calling card, is what has caused the blue collar worker to feel scared. It’s really hard to justify paying $62 an hour in wages with bennies when you can get 80% of that output offshore for $1 an hour. If offshore labor were the same as ours, then none of this would matter, there would not be a loss of jobs. Now, you and I though, we personally enjoy the benefits of that company who spent $1 an hour for the item that we just spent $12 on. If it were made in the US it would be $85.
“Why were they a huge contributor to Trump?”
Were they? Contributor means they gave something. If you are talking money, no they didn’t. If you are talking vote, yes they did. Sheldon Anderson donated nearly 10% of all of Trump’s raise. Guess who was 4th on the list. Come on . . . this will shock you. It was Walt Disney Company.
“Why are college professors and teachers so Biden supportive?”
Here you go again with the absolutes and the ‘ands.’ Some professors support Biden. Some professors support Trump. Some talk about it and push it. Some do not.
“That is a big reason here many parents choose private education.”
Really? The parents voted in the school board which sets the curriculum and policies.
“To simplify.....what is good in California is not neccessary good in Alabama and vice versa.”
To a point. But to expose children to multiple cultures, multiple ways of thought, multiple perspectives is the best regardless of location. A single orthodoxy is what creates issues when they eventually meet someone who was raised with a different single orthodoxy.
