OK, let's see. Anything happen in the last day or so that actually blows anyone's mind? I'm bound to get slammed over the political optics of this one, but the SCOTUS just did something which transcends the usual political hackery we've come to expect from the current crop of religious right-wing - I won't use the word "Justices" because IMO they have tainted the name by this point, so I'll say - Judges.

The decision on Presidential immunity is both insanely....I'm at a loss for words. Short sighted? Myopic? Is it just naive? In any case it is literally mind boggling to me.

The airwaves will be crowded in the near future with the narcissistic idiot that we have come to expect to crowd the airwaves - because that's what he does. And with the notion that the SCOTUS was, yet again, pandering to current "conservative" politics. And indeed, less than one day later Trumps lawyers are arguing that he is immune from prosecution from from both his hush money conviction for violating state election laws and his fake electors scheme on the basis that they were "official acts". Like some sort of modern day Midas, we have come to expect everything this man touches will somehow be infected with idiocy.

But because these arguments are idiotic, I'm afraid people will miss the seriousness of this very fact. Namely that the presumption of officiality that the court gave to, not only this idiotic once (and possibly future ) President, but rather for ANY future President, no matter how insane, taken together with the immunity for any act that can be deemed official....well... naive really does not seem to be a big enough word. What intellectual, fairy tale, ivory tower world do these people live in?

We are fucked folks. Or rather are going to be. Inevitably. The current situation of Trump avoiding prosecution in the intermediate term (and possibly forever) is the tiniest of storms in a teacup compared to the big picture of what this decision could allow a future President to get away with.

@sorillo1000,
That’s a good one!
And you’re right about the suburban white kids!

Speaking of Sabbath, check out the Sabbath/Temptations mashup "Get Ready For The Grave" on yootoob. It's awesome, and the white suburban kids in the Temptations audience make the song scary as hell.

So I had to go and listen to Sweet Leaf.

The beat and electric guitar riff has a Hip Hop vibe to it.

For some reason, it sounded like I've heard it before.

So I Googled it, and sure as shit, the Beastie Boys used it in Rhymin' and Stealin.

@2muchfunclub2
Absolutely, an early part of my life was spent with distributing a certain product to make ends meet ……
The most memorable part of that was being the supplier to 2 different police departments (multiple customers at each) as well as a municipal judge……., I always knew when to play it cool that’s for sure!!!!

Weed's no fun now that it's legal.

Breakin' the law was the best part.

@8, lol. It's slowly coming around (weed) won't likely ever happen in SC though unfortunately

Finally! Because Californians definitelly don't smoke enough pot. That should also improve the sales of Elephant Ears and deep friied ice cream...

I read 8 Inch's posts and all I can hear is Tony Iommi's cough at the beginning of Black Sabbath's song Sweet Leaf!

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Visitors at the California State Fair will be able to buy cannabis on-site this year in a first for the fair, according to Embarc, the fair’s partner for onsite sales and consumption.

Embarc says it’s a continuation of the fair’s leadership on cannabis after Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation allowing licensed cannabis events in California.

"This is a huge deal," Dustin Moore, co-founder of Embarc.

The State Fair introduced a cannabis exhibit and awards competition in 2022.

"This is the similar exhibit to what folks saw in 2022 and 2023, with the difference that alongside of the awarded products will be QR codes," said Moore. "So folks over the age of 21, can pull out their phones and effectively build a cart just as you would in a traditional e commerce shopping setting."

Now, there will be a broadened cannabis competition, onsite sales and consumption. Embarc says it’s a step in destigmatizing cannabis.

“Hosting cannabis sales and consumption is a groundbreaking milestone in destigmatization by facilitating a deeper connection between consumers and the farmers who cultivate their products with such care,” said Lauren Carpenter, co-founder of Embarc.

The cannabis exhibition hall is 21+ and has information about the state’s history with the flower and exhibits of California’s top brands and farms.

For those concerned about the fair being a family friendly event, the entire hall is only for those 21 and over, meaning children won't get anywhere close.

"Your children will have no opportunity to look at or touch any of these products. And I think that's something that we're incredibly proud of given the stringent regulations that are in place," said Moore.

There will also be a 30,000-square-foot consumption lounge for those over 21. The consumption area will be located outdoors, in a tent and officials say it will be located far away from any areas where people don’t want to see or smell people using marijuana.

This year’s cannabis competition includes new categories for pre-rolls, concentrates, cartridges, edibles, beverages and wellness products.

Mayhem “I work full time AND do that stuff now.”

I did the same thing all my life. It’s more relaxing this way. lol

Most of my family and friends told me I would hate retirement because I was a workaholic and wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I wasn’t always busy. But the truth is, I always recognized that work was a means to an end. I had a strong work ethic but I didn’t “live to work”, I worked to provide for me and my family and started seriously planning for retirement in my thirties so I wouldn’t have to work until I dropped dead.

For me, retirement was a goal to be accomplished, and work was a stage in my life that I was happy to put behind me. Whether I have another 10, 20, 30 or 40 years left, it’s nice to know that I get to live them at my pace, on my terms. That’s the reward of putting in all the hours I did in my previous life.

You have to remember how many Boeing and Airbus for that fact are in the skies at any given moment.
Checkout some of the flight tracker apps that show maps with airborne aircraft, thousands in fight around the world 24/7.
Boeing has been in business forever and makes great aircraft. The spaceship???? Hell it’s a spaceship….. as a human race we are still in our infancy as space travelers.
Flying on no matter what brand of aircraft is still safer than driving; just drive down Katy freeways (Houston area) at rush hour and tell me how safe driving is.
Biggest difference between the dangers of each respective travel mode is with cars we might kill 2-3 people in a collision; a plane crash 200-300 die. I’ll take my chances on a Boeing aircraft any day of the week!

Richards, TX

Boeing had another near miss in Oklahoma with a 737 . The airplane dove for no reason . Today as we speak the Boeing spacecraft Starliner is stuck in space . NASA is now involved in saving the astronauts. …When you fly international you don’t have much chance either Airbus or Boeing .
