We're Slingers

I have dish network out of necessity as the internet service is so bad where I live that streaming is pretty near impossible on weekends and busy traffic times. Theres not much worth watching much of the time. When my community finally gets decent broadband worked out I'll have to figure it out. As the op mentioned , sports is the rub. The only sport I really care about regularly is football. But even there you need ESPN, fox sports (for some of the local l team's away games) and local network channels, as nd for college ball, increasingly you need a specific conference network or networks to catch all the interesting games. But I'm less and less interested in college football with each passing year.
As far as other content, the ala carte approach seems to be inevitable. I wonder what this trend will do (is already doing) to our social fabric, being a guy who grew up with three networks and a few local channels.

I know! They gotta be careful and keep their pure bread households pure. Otherwise they could get a yeast infection. I hear they’re on the rise.

Sling...it's an internet/wi-fi TV service. No cables/wires/etc. Just plug it in your TV (unless you have a smart tv) and boom!...Instant tv channels. Cheap to. We cut our monthly expense by 60%+ and saved over $1k a year! Plus you can watch tv on a computer, tablet, phone (smart), etc. It's pretty much the cat's ass....only downside is no Super Bowl.

I've seen the commercials, but don't know what it is. Then again I still have a flip phone.

Not sure if this has been discussed but what's the general consensus on Sling's meshing of their service and swinging? We always smile when we see it and like the pun. We love their service so maybe we should add that to our vanilla interests.
