We picked Texas specifically because we figured it would be less likely to rain in Texas in April.
US Solar Eclipse April 8 2024
We have eclipse glasses and a short focus refractor telescope set up with a solar filter on the objective lens. In 2017 our viewing destination in the path of totality got rained out, we had to settle for about 90% coverage.
We're flying to Texas to watch it. This will be my son's second total eclipse. We traveled to Tennessee to see the one in 2017.
Yeah, Rose bought glasses months ago. Now starting to see them in stores for really jacked up prices.
We went out on a boat ride that day for the eclipse, @vab is right, it's pretty cool and weird all at the same time. Definitely worth checking out and glasses are a must.
We're in the main path. The hoopla is getting a little wacky. We get back from Italy the prior evening (hopefully no delays) and plan on working from home that day.
We will miss this one in totality. We saw the 2017 one from western NC.
To anyone who has the opportunity to do so: do it. You'll never forget it. 100% eclipse is completely different than even 99% eclipse.
Also, get your glasses NOW.
So, what are your plans to view the upcoming eclipse? We're visiting NY state along the shores of Lake Erie. Sure hope the sky is clear...
