Simple Pleasures

Love to wrap up in my quilt my grandmother made with my grandson and snuggle on the porch watching the neighborhood come alive while I sip coffee and rock him back and forth to the sounds.

A new magazine in the mail. Brussels sprouts. The snowy view from my bedroom window. A perfectly ripe pear. A messy mango.

Getting "flowers" picked and presented to me by my five year old, accompanied by a hug. Our secret little hand squish that my older boy and I do to show affection. Being told by patients that I really made a difference in their experience. My rottie placing her big head in my lap and insisting I pet her, and giving me those adoring looks only a happy pet can give their favorite person. Waking up snuggled next to someone that makes me feel ever-so-cared-for.
Just to name a few.

an awesome museum tour, a conversation with a veteran of World War II, lunch with a Fun-couple.

Picking your nose and booger flicking?

Things like a good morning kissy text from someone I love, a chat with a favorite gal, and a cup of my favorite latte.....all before 8:00 am, (and little traffic with NO ice on the 15 minute commute) is a stellar start to any work day for me......just something that simple that starts my day out in a happy thought kind of way.

People have such complicated busy lives, but the little things that we sometimes take for granted are as essential to our overall happiness as the big important things we like to accomplish.

I think this thread is intended to remember the simple pleasures of your life, whatever that might be.

An offbeat newscaster in the early days of WTBS used to do that. He would perch his dog at the news anchor desk and make it look like the dog was reading the news, while he provided the voice-over off-camera.

Simple Pleasure: Watching people get their undies in a bunch over something posted on a swing site's Forum.

Sed: I have no idea either but more precisely the "simple pleasures" don't really excite me so I guess that's why I think "shallow" like I need to probably take the time to smell the roses so to speak. I don't know but this thread gave me pause.

Your post reminds me of this bamboorina that used to post that she doesn't think of herself as gorgeous, yet all the women that she comes across hate her. She had no idea why they hated her but she suspected that they thought of her as beautiful.

Ms. BLT, noone's pleasure is any greater or less than anyone elses. Like you... waking up in the morning and seeing the sunshine is a wonderful pleasure. Jay would love morning sex hahaha...but Sat. and Sundays are my only sleep in days, so his morning sex days are a national holiday!!!

I was talking about me being shallow as I am not the "simple pleasures" type of person and I scold myself often about it. I don't always see the glass half full I guess is a better way of saying it.

I'm confused, BLT. I often am. Does the thread bug you because you feel the assembled simple pleasures are shallow? Or you are somehow bugged because you feel you are being seen as shallow? Please elaborate on your state of bugged.
