Lol you know it's not a personality or charm thing :). If you're a gold lifer, it explains the bump. I like the first class services for the same reason that you do. But I love not being in the loud waiting areas. I can't take the noise and crying kids. I work, I get distracted easily.

Sed, I'm an AA Gold for lifer and didn't hit Plat last year. So, I was surprised, based on the route -DFW to LAX, that I'd merit an upgrade. So, I assume it was my sparkling, charming personality, or me, just being nice and asking how the woman's day was going...LOL!
While its nice once in a while to have Admiral Club access, I can't focus on work if things are too quiet. So, I like the chaos, and people watching, of the gate area.
My simple pleasure in this whole thing is two-fold; I like getting on my planes first, stowing my gear, and settling in before the cattle run, and enjoy planning trips with my son, using my miles.
Airline upgrades and concierge access...just because you're nice, are polite, and smile
AA? I just got a Platinum status, but didn't get a chance to experience it yet . Have you tried the lounge service? I think they have one in SF. I'm battling right now with United. Want them to match my Delta and AA status. I swear once you get a taste of business you just can't go back.

BT Trooper was upgraded to first class on the way home from NOLA. He came and sat with me and gave his first class seat to the person who would have been sitting next to me. He had offered it to me, and as tempting as it was to go sit next to the male model in first class we both still just wanted to be together.
