Simple Pleasures
...Capo de tutti crapi...
Ok, I’m done.

Papal, even...

The Grand Poo-bah... The Big Daddy of Dookies...
Holy shit BT...
One of my favorite S.P. is meeting someone from the interwebs and watching their immediate fascination with their feet when they realize this isn't make-believe.
“I knew he's been around because he shits in my woods.”
I’d always thought that was the Pope...

SP- critter spottings this past weekend at the cabin. I wanted to post this because of the earlier discussion here...
Finally saw the the big boy bear in the neighborhood. He certainly wasn't being sneaky, just doing bear stuff. I knew he's been around because he shits in my woods. The neighbor about a mile away had photos of it on his property- taken last fall. That's how I know it's the same one- a distinctive white patch on his chest. I'm guessing he's a 400 pounder. Last fall big boy bear had visited that neighbor's porch. Lucky thing the screen door was closed- that separated their noses by about 3 feet. The neighbor decided the front porch wasn't the best place to store the bird seed anymore. Also said he needed to change his underbritches, after taking one of his heart pills...
Multiple deer. A mink. A timber wolf hunting mice in a field. Fleeting glimpse of a bobcat crossing a trail. That was the first bobcat I had ever personally seen there. I knew they were around. A friend staying at the cabin once videoed a pair of bobcat kittens playing in the yard.
Really unusual to have seen so many different types of critters in the same day. Must have been the mosquitoes and deer flies driving them nuts this weekend and making them move around so much.
And that is a good thing.
But I would...
;-)
damn good. you don't have to go through all that just to get with me ;)
For the record, my belly does not drag through the grass.
On the other hand, I'd drag my balls through a mile of broken glass in the scorching desert heat, surrounded by venomous snakes, all the way to the high country, for the opportunity to get nekkid with kitten.
Simple pleasures can be a real pain.
we'll take bears (and maybe even snakes) over some of the posters we've seen in the forum. Fortunately the "blocking" function here works just like relocating. And unlike bears, those that have been blocked can't sneak back down in to your path.
BTW, I Love the High Country.... No sneaky, belly dragging snakes in the grass like here in the forums.... Mary Jo
RE: Gooden, OH YES it was a wonderful pleasure to see it's poison squirt from its head and grind it's head into the blacktop....Pretty sure the people who lived nearby with kids appreciated it as well....I think i will post a couple pics here for all to enjoy.....Mary Jo
My S.P. is our home remodel is finally complete and we have all the mess cleaned up that the contractors left behind. I could have put this under the H.T/B.F. thread, but I'm too happy about my beautiful home to complain. Trying to keep it all positive.
Those are some funny replies, laughing all through the forums!!!!
"I wish the Park Service would visit the Forum once in awhile. There are some low people who need high country relocating..."
lol so true!
"The Park Service relocates any that exhibit unacceptable behavior to the high country."

"I ran over a rattlesnake on my scooter a few weeks ago on a side road.....I then parked my front tire on its head and moved handle bars back and forth, it was around 26 inches, a small one yet so much poisen i was able to squeeze out of its head, yes i have photo's..."
You took photos? WTF?
So, was that your simple pleasure- purposely crushing/grinding the head of an animal with your tire? I'd consider that a sick pleasure, NOT a simple pleasure. But that's just me.
BTW, it's venom, not poison.
Something is venomous if it bites/pokes/stings you and you get sick and/or die.
Something is poisonous if you get sick/die when you bite/eat it.
I was in Yellowstone last fall, saw two bear way off, created traffic jam. Did not know you could go hiking willy nilly in the park, maybe somewhere I was not...Did you see that amazing waterfall and huge gorge from the lookout point? Best part of the park....
MaryJo I do hope you're not as rough milking a trouser snake as you were with that rattler.
Bears in Yosemite are pretty easy-going. Give them space and let them do their thing. Just don't leave food in your car or down low in your campsites. The Park Service relocates any that exhibit unacceptable behavior to the high country. We've had them on our front porch but they never tried to break in. We were a lot more cautious when hiking in Yellowstone last year. Now snakes- they scare me....
I would pee my panties if i saw a bear near by in the wild, so unpredictable....I ran over a rattlesnake on my scooter a few weeks ago on a side road.....I then parked my front tire on its head and moved handle bars back and forth, it was around 26 inches, a small one yet so much poisen i was able to squeeze out of its head, yes i have photo's...Mary Jo
TallMark - actually yes. We hiked up Sentinel Dome Saturday evening to watch sunset and ran into one about 20 feet off the trail on the way up. He was busy tearing into a dead log and kept occupied as we quietly walked by. We had seen two together in the Valley during the shutdown and (for the first time ever) also a bobcat. Got some great pictures. Haven't seen any up at our cabin for about a year which is ok by us.
Did you see any bears???
simple pleasure: Spending seven of the last eight weekends in Yosemite
