This is the sort of thinking that those with the mental equivalent of a 286 processor reach for, because it's simple, within their grasp, and requires no effort beyond picking a side and repeating the junk from that side that suits you.

If that was in answer to my musings, I don't think so. This is independent of where someone falls on the political spectrum, even though all the recent examples are in the nutty conservative camp (as opposed to just being conservative). hotluvrs got closer when he mentioned cowardice, because it's similarly some kind of fundamental weakness masquerading as something else and some, I dunno, true believers syndrome or something. Or like the ranting and raving from the pulpit or the halls of government about hoMOsexshuALs that surprises no one when the ranter is arrested blowing some guy in a washroom.

I agree that I got a little dirty with that one, but there were several layers of subtextual insults that pushed my button. I normally reserve my ill will for pedophiles, cowards who make fun of heroes, and sociopathic narcissists. While the subject of my ire checks some of those boxes, I’ll try to do better by refraining from publicly voicing what so many must be privately wishing.

For the various comments. We requested and received a refund for the 2021 Bliss Cruise. If the madness continues into 2022 we will do likewise. That means you fully vaccinated can have the ship too yourselves. You all can share spike proteins together. It appears that the majority of you are on FB because I dumped my account long ago. It is amazing that the same folks continue to follow my posts and check out my profile all the while saying I spread misinformation. That says something about you and it isn't good. I haven't seen an intelligent post from the typical condescending holier than though suspects. You folks aren't trying hard enough.

I'm not sure how to put it together into a coherent whole, but there is something that ties together this person's willingness to say anything, no matter how revolting, Ron's desire to silence all disagreement, no matter how mild, Andrew's toddler- like fuck yous, and various other people's eagerness to uncritically repeat ridiculous things that don't stand up to even the mildest scrutiny all while asserting their intelligence, competence, or some other corrective to the impression of gross stupidity they actually leave.
Btw anyone can go on Facebook and search "668 Southwest air flights" and find many iterations of that drivel, so it's possible Destin just copy/pasted a slightly different one.
All of them of course authored by an anonymous "friend".

Mrs F always tells the story of how her mom told us once that when Izzy was born, she was in a bassinet in a hospital room where my mother in law smoked. She came home from the hospital being held by my MIL. I remember coming to the US in a smoke filled 747 cabin because hey you could smoke on the plane. The only constant you can ever count on is change. It’s not a shifting baseline, it’s just change. You can fight the friction it but it will still happen.
As for the actual topic, there are things that I could do as a kid that my kids can't do, but for the most part, these are generally good things.
For example, seat belt and helmet laws have changed in lots of places. I can remember going to the drive-in laying on a mattress in the back of the family station wagon. Can't do that today (legally), and I'm OK with that.
NH doesn't have a helmet law, but lots of other states do. I ride a motorcycle and do use a helmet, but many do not. It's on them if they crash and get a head injury that could have been prevented, but they do get to Live Free or Die in NH.
At least they mostly just screw themselves if they mess up, though I could see insurance companies trying to charge a higher premium to unhelmeted riders. In general though, I'm against laws to protect people from themselves.

VA - That's one of the reasons I gave up FB over 5 years ago, and I can only imagine how much worse things have gotten since then. I hear my wife bitch about all the stupid shit people post on FB all the time, but she does still use it to keep in touch with distant family/friends.

It must have been exhausting for you (Destin) to type all of that plagiarized Facebook post. You reproduced it fairly faithfully, with only very minor differences, such as "will cancel today" vs "will be cancelled today".
As with all super-reliable screen shots on Facebook, it was "Posted by a friend". Of course, we don't see the original post. There is nobody that can be held accountable, no way to talk to the originator and verify anything.

I talked the the car wash guy at the local dealership (he is “in the industry” so he knows the TRUTH) and he said the microchip shortage is because they sold all of the microchips to the vaccine manufacturers to be injected into the sheeple.

This is a post by an individual in the airline business; but by all means keep believing mainstream media and giving up your freedoms.
I'm in the airline industry. Yesterday 668 Southwest Airlines flights had canceled by the time I went to bed. They are estimating 1,000-1,400 will cancel today. want to know why? They told their pilots and flight attendants they had until November to get jabbed. So now they have to use all their banked vacation and personal time or lose it, and off duty crews are not picking up trips to cover. Jacksonville ATC walked out and Milwaukee ATC is expected to follow today.
There is no weather. Southwest just doesn't want to tell you the real reason, why?
I asked one of the pilots about it. The answer I got was (paraphrased).
80% of our pilots are ex-military. We see the tyranny that's happening. They're coming for essential workers first (nurses, doctors, firefighters, police, military, teachers and transportation workers) and they're coming for the rest of America next. We're not doing it for us, we're doing it for America. We swore to defend the Constitution against all enemies.
