So once a month (usually on a Thursday) we meet up with our good vanilla - well swirly- friends for a night out at a local bar (well used to be till we moved) for some dinner, (lots of) drinks and karaoke. This October will mark 7 years since we started doing this. We have never missed a month. At the end of the night we would schedule the next night. One night I had had a little too much and when I entered it into the calendar I wrote Fokkers Night Out. I had meant to say “Fuckers Night Out” as we would refer to each other as ‘Fucker’. Well we got a good laugh the following month and Fokkers stuck. Everyone at this bar now knows us 4 collectively as the Fokkers. When I created our profile a year later, I went with Fokkers. Everyone thinks it’s a reference to the movie and usually get a chuckle over it. one time I told someone it’s because I love WWI German fighter planes. No one usually gets that reference.
Profile Names
Even though we've known each other almost our entire lives, we were living in separate states when we started dating/swinging over 11 years ago. She was in NC and he was in WV, hence the name. Even though we now live in CO, we've kept the handle.
Well I think our profile name pretty much sums it up. Onehorneywife
We have some Caribbean roots where being “hot” meant being “hot and ready” or “hot and bothered”. We never think of it in North American terms of being good looking. In that sense we were probably more warm rather than hot, and now trending to just barely tepid.
In any case, the name stuck; been using it for over a decade so it’s too late to change now.
I've told this story before here on SLS, but here goes...
A long time back, I used to work with a crew of guys in SoCal who were about half and half hispanic blue collar and California surfer doods. Back then, I had mostly brown hair with two stripes of gray at the temples, so I got stuck with the nickname "Skunk" for awhile. Which I HATED. Anyway, one of the surfer doods was trying to learn Spanish and he asked them for the translation of Skunk, which is "zorillo". Literally, "little fox".
Problem is, he heard the z sound as an s sound, and kept mispronouncing/misspelling it as "Sorillo". Including in company emails, which spread it around and the name stuck. After I left the company, I lost track of most of the old crew, so no one in my new circle of vanilla friends/family knew the nickname, so I figured it would work well for the LS.
I started meeting others from online after my hubby passed in 2002 after 19yrs of marriage. No one told me I needed to come up with a screen name so the first thing that came to mind was this is kinda wild and I was a widow. Wildwidow and wildwidow1 was already taken thus i got wildwidow2
Cool beans, thanks for sharing and please keep them coming
We've traveled in 45 US states so far and 30-something different counties. A few more to go we want to see. Hence.....travelers.
Has been asked several times...
Our profile name is the first initial of each member of my immediate family.
There should be one more s, but the profile was make before the last one showed up...
It has, but it's been a long time.
We used to live in Chesapeake, VA. When we started this profile, we were so paranoid of being found out that we listed ourselves and the next city over : Virginia Beach (locally abbreviated as VA Beach).
And we are a couple. And I was 33 years old at the time.
I don't know if this has been asked before but thought it would be fun to ask " How did you come up with your profile name"?
I'll go first; Look at my profile, I'm a big girl who lives in Venice.
